It is said taht one of the differences between humanbeing and animal is that we know how to hide our emtion, and behave differently from our thought. Then here comes the question, do you hide your emtion and behave differently from your thought? The answer for me is normally I would not hide my emtions, you could tell from my face lol

we should be genuine persons. we should not pretend or by a hypocrite. just be what you are. get real. dont be a good actor or actress. we should only have 1 kind of life whether we are in home, in school, or work.

Hi chriszh22,
I do hide my emotion and behave differently when it is needed. As in Chinese society, it is rude sometimes to show everything on our face and tones when speaking. We have to be polite and calm when deal with people and things. Consequently, it is a habit for us to hide our emotion, sometimes even in front of our family members. That is our way of living and that is our culture. Of course, there are people who like showing others their feelings, too, but not much, as it is usually not acceptable or not welcome. I think I would only show my emotion when with my husband and daughter, but not with my parents, brother, sister and friends, as I have to respect them. Yes, to hide our emotion sometimes is a way to show our respect to others, too. Chinese are usually trained to be themselves only when they are alone. Don't think that they are not real, they are just trying to hide their negative emotion mostly, I should say.
Cultural differences is an interesting subjects.
Have a nice day.

Wow! I never know that Chinese have that kind of culture with regard to this topic after I read the first post.
I guess it depends on a person anyway. Personally, I don't hide my emotions. When I am angry or I am sad, i used to show it to everyone especially to the one who caused itI wouldn't care what he/she would think, as long as I show my feelings.

Yes I do hide my emotions. Being a man, it's easier not to show such emotions than women. I prefer not to show emotions because I get embarresed and my friends would just end up making fun of me and calling me a "sissy" or some other hard word. Although, when I'm on my own, I always do show my emotions because deep inside by body there would be stress that I need to let out, and by showing my emotions my stress can simply flow out of my body and afterwards I would feel alot much better.
