This was an incident that had happened to me last week. That day, I was alone in my house(usually I will be alone only). When the college gets over, I came home and I was preparing for tomorrow's class. Then, I had my dinner, and went to sleep. By 3AM, I can hear my dog is barking louder. Then I woke up and switched on all the lights.. I found a person was trying to escape from my dog, but he could not, as my dog is very big like a Tiger.. I caught him, and tied his hands using rope... and I was about to call the police. But, he cried louder and said his story. That, his children left him alone in his older age, and he has no one now to protect him.. He, said that he haven't eat food for 2 days.. Then, I gave a fresh juice to drink, and gave him some breads to eat. And, I asked him, whether he can do some work or not.. he said "yes".. Then, on that morning I went to a Social Welfare Organisation, to give him a work and asked them to give him a room to stay there... Now, he is working there, and thanked me for getting him a job like this.... Then I realized, thieves a not born, they are made by the society...

Hello arun, I do agree with you that some thieves are made by the society. Others become thieves becoz it is their choice. We are the one responsible for our own lives and not the community or the society around us. But,other people were too lazy to look for work,so,they resort to this shameful acts of robbing others property.

Very good story i bet a lot of thieves are on their way to your house now . just make sure to have additional dogs because i'm afraid they're too many and some will get away with some of your belongings. . But kidding aside, you right. No one was born a thief, it was just a product of hopelessness. but not all share the same story, there are thieves that stole because that their way to easy money. They could look for a job if they want to but they don't try hard enough but instead give in and stole things. And the sad part is, some thieves even blame others for what they have become. .

That is true. Most people wouldnt do horrible things if they werent pushed into it or havent learned it from somewhere because of necessity. Society does mold people while they are growing up and actually society dictates how people should act, or need to act given the right situations. Of course there are those set of rules but those rules are mostly ignored because of the need for survival. It is honorable what you did for that thief that you caught. I commend you for helping him and guiding him into more respectable means of getting a living, where he not only helps himself but he would be able to help others with his service.

What a heartwarming story. You did a good thing. Many wouldn't even ask or listen to his reason and just call the police. I feel bad his kids did this to him but he should have found a better way then trying to rob you. I'm glad your generosity paid off. He is working and has a place to live and you have a beautiful heart. May God Bless you always.

No, I don't want to punish him in a harsh way.. because punishing in a harsh method will not make him to realize his mistake..

your word's expression really good, my friend ... "thieves a not born, they are made by the society" ... I agree with your words are. Indeed some bad people, they are not born evil, but because they can not self-disciplined, their properties over time more and more ugly that has become a habit that has not be changed again, finally really become a criminal.

That is so good of you, arunmails. You gave the man not just a second chance but also hope. I salute you for that. Normally, people will not buy his story. The fact that he broke into your house, that would make us all conclude that he did not do that just once... That is just his way of escaping... an alibi. You have a good heart. God bless you!!! Keep it up! Everybody deserves to be heard and to be given a second chance.

Truly we can help others on our own simple ways. Better to give the man a job rather than give something that are consumable... Job is a more stable help... Who would think that he will end up landing a job right after comitting that act??? He is lucky for it was you!

Hi arun, It is true that criminals are not born. The circumstances are making them to act like that. Here the thing happened with this thief too. He must be old and his kids were not taking care of him and he needs food. A hungry man may think about to get some food so we can’t blame them. I really appreciate your attitude to take care of this person and provide a job and shelter for him. You really deserve a loud round of applause.

I think that you are completely right, theives are not born, only born from this society that we are living in right now. The way that the society is right now, it is bad for everyone and because of that there is a lot more people that have no choice but to steal because there is neither work nor resources for these people. I only wish that every thief was as easy to appease as the man that you have mentioned in your story.

With today's day and age, no wonder there are thieves out there. I think society takes a big part of the blame, because of the economic condition, some have no way out other than homelessness.

Nice story, and a good title, I think that title explains a lot too.. Not all thiefs are bad and you have to know the reasons for stealing. Glad that you saved him.

Holy cow, good for you. I must say i was quite touched with your story. I'm very pleased that you gave the guy a bite to eat and a drink. However, once caught thieves will try everything to get out of their situation. The most difficult thing is realizing if they are saying the truth or not. I never thought that thieves are born thieves, i always think its because they're simply greedy for money ( I might be wrong). But it is WRONG to steal anyway! If i were you i would have called the police. If it were for me anyway. However, all i can say is that you did the right thing, but always be cautios.

His faces shows that he is not a professional thief. As I am a lecturer, I can easily judge a person with what intention he is doing a particular job.. when I see his eyes, I made myself clear that he is longing not for more money but for temporarily put a full stop for his hunger and poor condition... And just to threaten him, I acted like making a call to police.. thats it..
