The World cup for nest year took place in South Africa a few days back... The groups are:
Group A: South Africa, Mexico, Uruguay, France
Group B: Argentina, Nigeria, Korea Republic, Greece
Group C: England, USA, Algeria, Slovenia
Group D: Germany, Australia, Serbia, Ghana
Group E: Netherlands, Denmark, Japan, Cameroon
Group F: Italy, Paraguay, New Zealand, Slovakia
Group G: Brazil, Korea DPR, Ivory Coast, Portugal
Group H: Spain, Switzerland, Honduras, Chile
I think England has got a really easy draw...Group G is the Group of death here...
So who do you think will be there in the last 16...
my take...
France, Uruguay, Argentina, Greece, England, USA, Germany, Serbia, Netherlands, Denmark, Italy, Paraguay, Brazil, Portugal, Spain & Chile...
What do you think will be the contenders for the last 16 slots...

My predictions are as follows:
Group A: Mexico and France
Group B: Argentina and Nigeria
Group C: England and Algeria
Group D: Germany and Serbia
Group E: Netherlands and Cameroon
Group F: Italy and Paraguay
Group G: Brazil and Ivory Coast
Group H: Spain and Chile
I must admit that a couple of my predictions were a bit subjective, as I am a supporter of African football. The African teams I chose do have a good chance of qualifying, but they will have to strive for every point.

That's true, but I think Nigeria and Algeria have an important chance of qualifying from the respective groups. Greece is far from playing the football that brought them the European title and Algeria are playing very good football right now. The other teams I predicted to qualify will have a hard life in their groups...
Even if Ghana have a pretty good team, I don't credit them with chances because Germany and Serbia are simply too strong and, in my opinion, these two European teams will crash the other two.

Hi rajuroy,
It is hard to say who gonna proceed to the second round because we do not know who gonna play (players, not team) in their respective team. But base on current situation, my prediction are
Group A : Mexico and Uruguay. I love to see South Africa going through because the stadium will be full there but their current performance is not very convincing same as France.
Group B : Argentina and Nigeria. Both team are too good for Korea Republic and Greece. Greece is not as good as when they won the 2005 European Cup. Korea Republic is not known as a strong football team.
Group C : England and Slovania. England with the very impressive qualifying result would be the sure team. Slovania is a strong team and too strong for USA and Algeria.
Group D : Serbia and Ghana. Germany is not as good as before and with the luck, both Serbia and Ghana will win their match against Germany. Australia would be no hope (they go through to the second round last term (with a difficult group) but not this time).
Group E : Netherlands and Cameroon. Japan and Denmark would not have any chances. Netherlands and Cameroon are too good for them.
Group F : Paraguay and Slovakia. Italy would not go through because they luck of stamina and striker ( most of the are 30 years old and above). No top form striker for Italy currently.
Group G : Brazil and Ivory Coast. Portugal will not pass this group. They depend to much on Ronaldo and one man can not win the game.
Group H : Spain and Chile. Spain are on top form and they will win all their group match. Switzerland and Honduras would need a very good luck to beat Chile.
Good luck to every team.

I think you have done a detailed study on the 32 teams playing this world cup... good to see many teams on your wish list which didn't figure in the list of any member here in mylot...
lets see if the teams you suggested can pull though in the crunch situations...

Group A: I think France and South Africa will pull it off.
Group B: Greece and Argentia
Group C: England and USA
Group D: Germany and Australia
Group E: Japan and Netherlands
Group F: Italy and Paraguay
Group G: Brazil and Ivory Coast
Group H: Spain and Chile
Those are my personal picks. I think Group A will be fun to watch and group G will be the most competitive.
