Discussions of mass confusion.......

Lately when I come on to mylot I have found one similar thing. There are a lot of people out here who just aren't paying attention to the discussions that they are posting. Just today I have come across 16 discussion that I had to exit before I even finished reading them. Why? Because first of the sentences were so confusing I couldn't even read half of what was in them. When you are posting a discussion it is VERY important to go back and read it prior to posting, if it is hard to understand, don't just submit it for the sake of getting paid, make sure that it is good or no one, myself included, will take the time to read or respond to it. I sometimes think that these people wake up in the morning, rush to post things that they haven't even taken the time to think about. I find it very frustrating to have to sort through a bunch of "junk" discussions just to be able to find one that makes enough sence to respond to. Does this happen to you a lot? Do you still respond letting the person know that their discussion has been poorly thought? Do you just leave it? I wish that people would take mylot a little more seriously, I think that this is a great place to learn and earn but it's hard to learn anything when the instructions are broken,LOL. I guess maybe I am being picky but I just think that if someone is going to take the time to read and respond to your writing, you should take pride in that by making sure it is a good piece of work and not just a waste of space.

I will admit, I don't usually read what I have typed when I'm done :X. However, I'm not posting here just to get paid. I really do enjoy reading and discussing. Typing is one of the main things I like to do :)

I agree there is much that is difficult to read. I attribute it to the fact that fo many mylotters English is a second language. Of course then there is the fact that some don't care and probably do just what you describe....lol If I can I will muddle through and respond. Many times I just have to go on to something else...and this happens more often than not.
I find it very difficult to find good discussions at times. I get so frustrated at the lack of things that interest me that I stay away longer than I wish I did. I guess it's just part of mylot.....I know there are very good discussions out there, it's just a matter of looking for them...that can be a pain in the neck but it's worth it if you are serious I guess. I'm just here for fun, but do appreciate a good well thought out discussion.
Brightest blessings,
Mari

crivas hi just one moment are you forgetting something? A great many posters on mylot are not using English as their native tongue but as a second language. Mylot admins suggest we try
to help them to make better sentences and show them how
to be more clear, not chastise them for their poor grammar
and poor unclear discussions. I don't think its a matter of
poorly thought out discussions as much as a matter of not
knowing all the proper uses of our English language..Of
course there are also those who just dash something off the
tops of their heads and do not bother to even reread it
for clarity at all. these are really so irritating, but with
all the others struggling to learn English I just try to have'some patience. I would not tell them their discussion is
poorly thought out, thats going way too far,no if these are non
english speaking people help them out a bit.

I have ross similar discussions and like you said it is very difficult to sift through to get the essence of the discussion.Mind you I am not saying that my discussions are perfect becuase ever so often I make a post and then I realise that there is a obvious error staring me in the eye. However most often than not these are spelling errors and it happens even though I usually read it over but the discuaaion will still make sense. I agree with you that the problem is usually one of haste in writing and not enough time in checking the integrity of the discussion

I will sometimes start to respond to a discussion thinking I understood what the discussion starter was trying to say, but as I start posting a response, and as I am reading while writing, I back out of it, as I realized that I just didn't understand it enough to post a response to. In fact that has happened more than once. I think what it is, some don't have real good English or their sentences aren't complete so it is hard to respond to ones like that. I have seen a lot like that, so I just will skip them and go on. After I get through trying to read them, I then realize that it wasn't as interesting as I thought it would be, as I only do ones that I give a good response to. Good luck to you and happy mylotting.
