I was a supporter at the Singapore Marathon on 6 Dec 09.
I had previously participated in the 10km runs, but this time only my husband was running the full marathon, so i participated as a supporter.
It was great being down there with my baby! We took the free supporters' bus shuttle down to east coast park so that we could catch my hubby (we did! cos he wisely brought his handphone along) and cheer him on.
It was amazing to see the hordes of people running en masse. There were 17,000 participants in the full marathon this year, and a cap of 50,000 runners for all categories overall. There was a good party atmosphere going with live music at some points and the organisers staff at water points etc cheering them on.
At the finish line, there was live commentary, some of which was telecast on TV, and lots of activities for children. My baby was too young to run in the kid's dash, unfortunately! but we received a supporters' picnic pack with fruits and drinks and even a really nice shoe bag! which was ironically nicer than the bag they gave the runners.
It just amazed me so much to see the really old runners going the distance. 42km is really tough, and I just had to watch in admiration at those who looked at least 60 or 70, going strong. The oldest marathoner was 73! Which goes to show if there's a will, there's a way.

The last time I attended a marathon event, I was still in uniform!
Gosh... that was a long time ago!
Now, the only thing I want to indulge in is the luxury of my home after a tough day at work. Going to crowded places is not something I really enjoy. Though that may change in the future. Cos when I was younger, I love crowds. It gives a sense of celebration, especially when it is around festivals like Christmas!

YEah, when there's a will, there's a way!! haha =D Running has got no age limits!! As long as the determination is there, nothing is impossible!! hehe
I have always like watching maranthons or any running events live, if possible.. Because the the way they are running, seems to be so easy and comfortable, yet fast!! haha =D For ple whom are not into running, they will see it as something boring.. haha =D
BUt to me, i'm actually studying their technique and pace, strides etc, so that i can try out on my own too.. hehe ^_^
