Have you ever created a nature study journal? It is a journal where you describe, study, and explore nature. There is a great old book on this called The Handbook of Nature Studies. My son keeps one as part of his schooling. He chooses something from nature that caught his eye, a leaf or a tree or animal, and then draws a picture about it and writes about it in detail. The color, size, shape, season, place. It's a great way to be closer to nature and to learn to appreciate the details.
