The gal in the movie would take old clothes and revamp them or take a part of one and add it to something else. I have clothing that doesn't fit me anymore but I love the material or the print.

Same here. All the clothes the family couldn't wear anymore would go in the quilt.

Back when this movie was released, it was the fashion amongst us gals to do this. Whoever could make the best outfits tended to be the "winner". I was very talented at this once upon a time. However, the fashion in the 1980s was vibrant with a near crazy flair. Since the early 1990s fashion is much more tame. This leads to less individual creativity.

i always loved that movie. have watched it many times. I would say my nack is with caregiving. The elderly and children under 15yrs I have always had a nack with. they love me, always ask for me, and we get along great. only people I seem to have any problems with are ones over 15 and under 70yrs
