Since my childhood I have heard and even witnessed parents who bit their child with a rod. They say that in this way, their child will not grow hard- headed and will develop disciplined.Despite this, it seems it was never applied by my father to us, his seven children. He disciplined us by talking to us in a nice way.He did counseling instead so that we will be guided on the things that we should do which are in accordance to his will.Whenever we commit mistakes, we have a father and child talk in our room.Though we never experienced to be bitten with a rod by him, we grew up with high respect and great love for him and to our mother. We grew up applying the value of obedience, humility, patience and love towards every member in our family. That was for us before...but now..they say children are different. How about you?Are you in favor of disciplining a child using a rod?

I am not against the idea of flogging a child but it is the effectiveness that makes it meaningful or meaningless. There are some children that you don't flog and especially at certain ages if not it would not be effective. The punishment always have to fit the crime. I was flogged as a child and I did not grow up a wayward person.
