Still traveling during the credit crunch

I know that less people are traveling due to the credit crunch. For months now I have been wishing to go to Canada next summer but I have been shocked at the airfares. At last I have found some reasonably priced flights from Gatwick to Halifax. Now I can take my toddler son and baby daughter to Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island. I would have liked to go to Vancouver but the airfares were too high for me. I have to stay on budget and it is only a six hour flight.
Did you travel anywhere in 2008 or 2009?
Are you able to afford to travel somewhere in 2010?

I was lucky enough to visit Florida twice this year and also I have just come back from a short trip to Venice - hopefully I can take a few trips in 2010 although at the moment I only know of one trip next year I definitely plan to do!

I haven't yet been to Florida but think it is the sort of place I love to visit. I hope that you had a lovely time in Venice. I know that you too really love to travel. I hope that you will go on some wondeful trips in 2010. I wonder which trip you know you will definately do.

Hi,
I do travel a lot.......ben to Egypt in 2008, this year I was in Manila
and in June 2010, I will be going to Singapore and Malaysia.
Travelling is the best way to get rid of the stress...just go out somewhere, forget about work and anything else...just enjoy.
While in Canada, if you check Craigs List under RIDE SHARE, there are a lot of people who offer rides from one place to other...this is pretty cheap way to travel.

Hi Danny 08. I am really glad to hear that you travel a lot. I visited Singapore and Malaysia. I hope that you will have an excellent time in South East Asia. I have seen the pyramids from a plane window. I would love to see Egypt from ground level. Thanks for telling me about a great idea that is in Canada.

You are most welcome my friend. I been to Far East few times, love Singapore. I always stay at the beach, East Coast Parkway, they have these beautiful Chalets to stay.
If you ever happen to go to Egypt and see Pyramida, make sure you go there during full moon...very romantic...its a different world.
If you need any kind of help regarding ur visit to Canada, please do not hesitate to let me know.

I do hope to be able to go to Egypt in a few years time. I think that the Philippines would be a lovely destination for island hopping and snorkeling. I am so very much looking forward to visiting Canada. I will need to do a couple of trips there because like Australia it is a very large country.

There was a report in our state newspaper today, that even though more foreigners were arriving in Australia as tourists, more Aussies were going overseas rather than travelling in Australia for holidays. This we think, is due to costs associated with travelling in Australia being very high, fuel, flights and accomodation. Travelling in to certain Asian locations can be much cheaper for Aussies, espoecially if they live in the North of Australia. There are some good deals to go to Pacific Islands as well..
The last two years we have only travelled within our Stare, plus two trips over the border to Mildura. We usually go to a beach locatio within 2 hours drive. Once a year I go north, to holiday and attend swimming carnivals.
For 2010, my daughter and I are planning a 7 day holiday to Penneshaw (Kangaroo Island), and again opver the border to Mildura.

I have very fond memories of visiting Kangaroo Island. I went on a penguin talk and watch in Penneshaw. It was fascinating and it was so lovely to see the fairy penguins. I liked Flinder's Chase National Park and its friendly kangaroos.
Out of the Pacific Islands I have been to Hawaii, Fiji, French Polynesia, the Cook Islands and Samoa.
Yes, people that live in Darwin or Cairns go to Bali, Thailand and the Philippines. Those from Sydney and Brisbane can go to the Pacific Islands. Australia is always going to be a popular destination for overseas visitors.
I hope you and your daughter will have a lovely time on Kangaroo Island.

Nope we don't travel. We didn't have lot of money before the credit crunch and we can't afford to do much now. I'd like to even travel locally a lil more but bills & keeping everyone clothed & fed come first.

I've never been big on traveling, so the economic crunch didn't affect my "traveling" (or lack thereof) at all. I typically go on short road trips with friends, but rarely leave the state. Money does have something to do with it, but the economic downturn didn't change my habits. I plan on going to Hawaii in March of 2010! Which seems far away, but it's actually coming up. It seems like with the economy still being "down", we can find more and better deals on flights & hotels - now that companies are sort of desperate for customers.

Hi maxine,
I still don´t know whether I will have money to travel next year or where and when. I just finished paying for my extra vacations last year. I had to take credit to go to Kunayala as I had already spent my vacations money that year. But it was worth it.
This would be a good time to go to MachuPicchu as it´s nearer, but I´d like to go there with someone else. So it´s all in a sort of cloud. But there´s time. We are approaching summer here and I´ll have fun here with the sunny days. I´m getting ready my terrace, doing some gardening and walking barefooted.
I´ll think about later, after the Christmas holidays.
Take care. Hugs!!!

Hi Margarita. It is great that it is almost summer in your home country. I know that your on-line earnings pay for some of your travels. Muchu Picchu is high up my travel wish list. Slowly over the years I get to see many of the places that I long to visit. I loved hearing about your yacht trip from Cartagena to the San Blas Islands. Christmas is a time I think about travel in the next year. Take care. Hugs. Maxine

I traveled to Puerto Rico this past May. I wish I could have wait away again but maybe next year. It all depends on finances and if I can sell my house. If not then I will be stuck for another year and I won't be able to fly. I hope and pray though I can sell and travel far far away.
