I knew that'd get ya'. when i was a kid there was a commercial on tv where they advertised a dog food. little boy would sing "My dogs better then your dog, my dogs better then yours, my dogs better cause he eats Kennel Ration. my dogs better then yours" few of you are probably old enough to remember it, but this morning I thought of it because Coco is so very smart. we had a pour down of rain last night, big storm. our yard still needs grass which we havent been able to afford, so usually if it rains we close the doggy door and walk her. last year her and lucy both got their little feet washed for getting into the mud and i was surprised she remembered that. i forgot to close the doggy door and she ran out. I looked and was so shocked!! she actually walked tippy toe on the curbing to get to the rocks to potty!! lol! how smart is that? im going to try put a pic here of the muddy yard and curbing that she walked on.

hi bunnybon7 oh my your coco is one smart dog.she must not like having her paws washed so she decided to save herself from that'oh how funny and clever and smart too. But then I knew most dogs are really smart. oh I suppose there are dumb dogs, but I sure never met one. when I had a dog,she would grab my wrist with her mouth and tug when my blood sugar was low, she always seemed to sense it. and she was always right too. I would check it and if I did not go into the kitchen and get a glass of orange juice she would fuss at me until I did. When we sold our house and had to move into an apartment I had to give her to a family whose little girl really adored my dog. that was hard but necessary.very few apts. will allow you to have dogs.

They are smart, and I remember that commercial! They have long memories, as you've found out. Gus recently learned to bring me Cookie's bowl when it's dinner time. His is in the kitchen and hers is here in the office. It only took him a few minutes to learn it. He likes to play dumb and won't learn many things but it had to do with food so I knew he would love his new job!

Good heavens, no!! In fact, I feed them in separate rooms because when he's done with his he'll shove her away from her bowl and steal her food! He was always bringing me the dish anyway, begging for food. His is too heavy for him to carry so he used hers. I figured I'd give him a job close to dinnertime and he's very happy about it.

Now you've got me humming that Kennel Ration jingle..thanks! Dogs have really long memories, at least for the events that have meaning, good and bad. Tukay's favorite night is pizza night, because she certainly gets her share of hand-outs. When we get take-out it's easy to understand that she knows it's here, because she can smell it. However, when we go grocery shopping and buy frozen ones, she still knows what it is from the shape of the boxes. There's nothing to smell from a frozen pizza in a sealed box, but when she sees that 14 inch aquare, flat box she starts licking her chops and maintains that vigilant air of expectation until we actually cook them. Pavlov would have been proud...and bells weren't even needed!

oh my. i remember you saying she loves pizza. i didnt think you were old enough to remember that jingle. anyway, i been scanning thru some here looking for your avatar of tukay and wondering where you were, when it dawned on me that you figured out how to put your mini on here its cute. but not as cute as tukay. i guess after xmas. hey did you notice i've got the white chihuahua from mini mall? is it still there? i've wondered why you didnt get that. ok now i've got to look up Pavlov...hhhmmm!

Pavlov is the scientist who rang a dinner bell when ever he was going to feed his dog. After a while, when ever the dog heard the bell ring, he would salivate in anticipation of food. That's what Tukay does when ever she sees a box that remotely looks like it might have pizza in it. My Tukay avatar will be back after Christmas. I found an easier way to save your Pogo mini, other than the steps that Pogo has you do. Just save it to your Facebook account, then save a copy to your picture folder. I'll have to go see if the while chihuahua is there, not sure if I saw it. Wss it bought with tokens or gems? I don't have gems...

There is no doubt that dogs are clever. I believe a dog is a reflection of its "owner". A ratty dog which shows no intelligence speaks to me that the owner does NOT treat it as part of the family and give it the love and attention it deserves. Where a dog is part of a family it will be smart and bring so many delights as you have depicted here. Evidently Coco is loved.

My cat is better than your dog. Our cats need no catty door to go in and out. They make certain sounds that tell us what they need and meow to come in. Some how my daughter always hears them even with people talking and noise from the television. And, our cats clean themselves and do a very nice job. Did you know that you start a sentence with a capitol? You do!

Ya, cats are great! As far as the other goes I feel my writing(anywhere)is an extension of myself and so I always try to make as professional, correct and easy to read as is possible.

yes cats do have their better points and they are quite clean in spite of what some think. I did used to think they were much smarter then dogs also before i got Coco and came in contact with other very smart dogs. i total used to be a cat person. now, as to your other point. yes, writing professionally i imagine id have to watch how i write. id have to start things/sentences with capitol. but i dont think it makes a difference here its like writing friends i thought.

I do remember that song in the tv commercial. We had a black poodle and she would not have done what your dog did. She was smart poodle but I think she just like to see if she could get away with things again so she would not have walked on her tiptoes.

Smart doggie you've got there indeed. However, I also have to say that the majority of dogs that I have met haven't been any kind of a fool at all. An example of this is my hound dog, Michela. There have been a few occasions when she will be outside and it will start raining. We have a lot of trees in our back yard and we also have some low greenery out there as well. Well, she has built herself a nest in some of that stuff where she will stay when she is outside and it is raining so that she doesn't get wet.

Just to complement your discussion and your smart dog. Have this story circulating in the web until now. I knew many of us already read it, but for the sake of those who doesn't. Hope this will not be deleted. Here it is: "THE CLEVER DOG" A butcher watching over his shop is really surprised when he saw a dog coming inside the shop. He shoos him away. But later, the dog is back again. So, he goes over to the dog and notices he has a note in his mouth. He takes the note and it reads "Can I have 12 sausages and a leg of lamb, please. The dog has money in his mouth, as well." The butcher looks inside and, lo and behold, there is a ten dollar Note there. So he takes the money and puts the sausages and lamb in a bag, placing it in the dog's mouth. The butcher is so impressed, and since it's about closing time, he decides to shut up shop and follow the dog. So off he goes. The dog is walking down the street when he comes To a level crossing. The dog puts down the bag, jumps up and presses the button. Then he waits patiently, bag in mouth, for the lights to turn. They do, and he walks across the road, with the butcher following him all the way. The dog then comes to a bus stop, and starts looking at the timetable. The butcher is in awe at this stage. The dog checks out the times, and then sits on one of the seats provided. Along comes a bus. The dog walks around to the front, looks at the number, and goes back to his seat. Another bus comes. Again the dog goes and looks at the number, notices it's the right bus, and climbs on. The butcher, by now, open-mouthed, follows him onto the bus. The bus travels through the town and out into the suburbs, the dog Looking at the scenery. Eventually he gets up, and moves to the front of the bus. He stands on 2 back paws and pushes the button to stop the bus. Then he gets off, his groceries still in his mouth. Well, dog and butcher are walking along the road, and then the dog turns into a house. He walks up the path, and drops the groceries on the step. Then he walks back down the path, takes a big run, and throws himself against the door. He goes back down the path, runs up to the door and again, it throws himself against it. There's no answer at the house, so the dog goes back down the path, jumps up on a narrow wall, and walks along the perimeter of the garden. He gets to the window, and beats his head against it several times, walks back, jumps off, and waits at the door. The butcher watches as a big guy opens the door, and starts abusing the dog, kicking him and punching him, and swearing at him. The butcher runs up, and stops the guy. "What in heaven's name are You doing? The dog is a genius. He could be on TV, for the life of me!" to which the guy responds: "You call this clever? This is the second time this week that this stupid dog's forgotten his key." Reflection: Looks like some, people will never be satisfied with what they've got.

Anything Coco can do Preiti can do better(lol)!! Does Coco alert you when she sees a reptile in the garden? Preiti does it. She will never go anywhere near it but give a particular type of a bark and we know we have a vistor. For every situation she has a different bark. For different people she will wag her tail differently!! She sleeps with me but will never move an inch from the sheet that has been provided for her - the list is endless.

Yes Bunny snakes. But most of them are harmless. There is one a fat fellow/felly (lol) has made his/her? home in my garden. No doubt they are creepy creatures but they are required to kill rats around.

Oh!yes, dogs have good memory without which they would not have accompanied us for lives.Even then,it is nice to watch their activities as they amaze us beyond our judgement.Pets always surprise us with their memory power and behavior. My grandma had a cat which would accompany us while dinner and wait for its turn patiently. It won't disturb the dinner table out of greed.

oh yes i had a cat like that once also. he would never meow and beg. only one time did he steal a peace of food. once when a friend was over and had eaten sausages, which the cat particularly loved. the friend passed out after drinking a lot and left one sausage on the plate that he hadnt offered the cat or hadnt eaten. my kitty kept walking by the coffee table where said sausage was and glancing at it and looking over at me. i was debating on giving it to him when out of the corner of my eye, i saw him jump up grab it, and run in a flash. i didnt chatise him. he never done that any other time. i guess the temptation was just to much.

actually i think there is not hardly any dumb dogs. i think they are like children. if you spend a lot of time teaching them things and talk to them, they learn things.
