Well, in America, there are plenty of traditions. Since there are plenty of different cultures here. But with my family, we always try to have at least a Turkey or Chicken and a Ham. Then we have mash potatoes, macaroni and cheese, vegetables, pumpkin pies, and of course all kinds of Christmas cookies.

The tradition here in Great Britain is without a doubt a "Roast Dinner," and usually consists of:
-- Roast Potatoes
-- Vegetables such as carrots, cauliflower etc.
-- Gravy
-- Meat of some kind (commonly Turkey, but my family and I cannot stand it)
As long as you include all of the above, you are good to go as far as Christmas dinner is concerned

The traditional food in the US, at least my part of it (northern/mid) - in Minnesota, is ham, usually mashed potatoes (those seem to be a staple in our diet... yearlong. lol.) various vegetables, pumpkin pie, apple pie, casseroles, and so on. I usually don't eat all that much of it, especially not this year, considering I don't eat meat or dairy.
