By the time this crap goes into effect REPUBLICANS will be in control of congress and most likely the presidency. Yes, I know most liberals haven't read so much as a single page of this bill so I'll explain. This will NOT give you instant government run healthcare. What it will give you is 6 years of higher taxes with no benefit before the government healthcare begins. Despite the wishful thinking of the left, Republicans are not a defunct party and they WILL regain the house and senate within the next 6 years. Check your history if you don't believe me. At the rate Obama is going there's a good chance he'll be a one term president. So tell me, do you want Republicans to control your healthcare?

Taskr, IF we good a good health care reform bill passed neither the Democrats NOR the Republicans will be "controlling our health care". With ANY luck, neither will the insurance companies be. I realize you "know" what "most liberals" have or have not read; you also "know" who will win the next few elections. I'll admit I know neither but I can GUARANTEE you that no matter who controls Congress or the White House in the years to come and whether or not health care reform happens we WILL be paying higher taxes before long out of pure necessity. I refuse to argue over the who's what's and why's of it since we've been down those roads before - over and over - so we'll have to agree to disagree. Annie

Not if they are running the program. We will be a sicker nation than we already are. I do have a question, not that I support him, but why do you say that Obama will only be a one term President? I am just curious on your veiws as to why. Yes he has been messing up lately but that does not mean he will only be a one term President. Also what is your feeling about Nixon? My Gram liked him a lot and I am just doing a bit of questioning about him since I saw Frost vs Nixon. Ainge

lol... great point! I don't want that kind of power to be with the government PERIOD! I find it so funny the people in Washington going back and forth debating the details. Once they have the power it will be tinkered with by every administration to come. The government has already messed with our healthcare system enough and raised the cost setting regulations. It's created the low number of insurance companies and the limited choices. Why won't they just leave us alone! I pay enough taxes... I'm about ready to throw in the towel. You're better off if you don't work hard.

I know it's "in" to blame the government for everything but are you seriously saying the insurance companies and for profit health care providers don't share at least SOME of the blame for the high costs of health care? Annie

I just saw this latest on the healthcare proposal. I really hope this is true?? Senate tentatively agrees to remove public option Negotiators strike deal to replace controversial government-run insurance plan in their version of legislation; abortion amendment fails. http://www.washingtonpost.com/

I don't want either party controlling my life. It is not the government's job to provide healthcare, and they don't have the constitutional authority to even attempt that. There are a lot of big ticket items that the liberals are trying to push through... healthcare and cap and trade, and a lot of other things as well. The fact is that government cannot mange anything, these items willk only increase costs and do nothing to make our lives better. This issue is not about healthcare, it is about control over us.

I don't want the Democrats to control my healthcare and I don't want the Republicans to control my healthcare either. I understand that the system is broken and that it needs to be fixed. However, I don't think that the way to fix the system is to make it all run by the government. I think that there should be some government controlled healthcare, as there already is with medicaid and medicare, but I don't really think that it needs to go any further than that as far as healthcare is concerned. What I really think needs to happen is that there should be price lists that are posted so people are able to make an informed decision about the healthcare that they chose to recieve. I honestly think if general healthcare was run in a manner that was closer to the way that dental care is provided the system would be a lot better.
