When is the best time to buy ?

Canada

I have bought my all inclusive package for St. Lucia in the beginning of august for my trip in january. I actually got the best price for my room category. I have looked in the beginning of november on the internet to see what price it was listed and there were no more rooms available for that category. How long before going on a trip do you buy your all inclusive package? 6 months, 1 month, 2 weeks ? Do you think you got the best price for your package ?

I think some destinations are more popular than others. I think that before booking a trip a tourist should research the prices. He or she could decide to book a trip during the rainy season. The peak season can cost a lot so therefore I like the shoulder season. I usually book six months before my trip. Sometimes I book just two weeks before I go off abroad. Last minute deals can be excellent value. I have just booked my flight to Canada. Months ago I was worried because the flight prices were so expensive. Then I saw a new route at a decent price so I booked it for June 2010. I like November and January when I go off to a tropical destination. I hope that you will love it in St Lucia. I went there and had a lovely time.

I think better is 6months because it's a big gap and you can buy cheaper price to the original.

For me it depends on where I am going and what season i am going. If I am going somewhere during holiday season or summer season we buy tickets 3 to 4 months early, or sometime more early than that. But in regular time we buy like 1 months earlier. Also if we are going overseas than we always try to buy atlease 2 to 3 months early no matter what the season is.

When I went to New York City, I booked my hotel about 7 or 8 months in advance. Actually, the first thing that I bought was the tickets to see the New York Yankees play the Boston Red Sox. Then I built the rest of the vacation around that. I knew that NYC would be the most expensive place on the adventure to stay, so I booked that hotel right away. From there, I purchased the hotel for Boston which was the end of our journey and the rest I wasn't too worried about, because the availability and price was a lot easier to come by. There have been times that I have been able to get a good deal on a hotel room by booking it at the last minute. That is for places that aren't normally sold out.
