What are your feelings about snow?

My Back Yard Covered in Snow - My back yard covered in snow. It snowed heavily last night and has been snowing nearly all day today.

Snow is beautiful and fun to play in, but I dread it's arrival every year as I don't like driving in it. How do you feel about snow?

At the moment looking at the 8 inches on my deck that I have to shovel not so great. We are looking at getting 6 or 8 more inches this afternoon and tonight with blizzard conditions being predicted. When the blizzard is over and all I see is the Christmas lights reflected in the snow drifts..I will think it is pretty.

It is pretty, the snow is so heavy it has practically smashing our front bushes down which have the lights on them, I wonder if we will even be able to see the lights tonight.

Ours at the moment is good snowman snow too. The way the wind is picking up and with the prediction of 50 mph winds, I just hope the lights are still there in the morning!

Snow is beautiful when it is falling and you are inside looking out. It looks so clean. Then it gets all slushy and dirty and nasty looking. If you live where there is a lot of snow, you need a mud room at the entrance of your house so you can shed some of the clothing you wore outside. Where I live, in central Texas, snow is a rarity, so we like it better than those who have to deal with it all the time.

I imagine it is nice to see for people who live where you live. Having to deal with it for 3 or 4 months really stinks. My car is stuck in the drive way right now. I tried to shovel but the snow is all wet and heavy I shoveled till my body couldn't take it anymore hopefully I can get out in two hours when I need to go pick up my son.

I lived in northwest Montana many years ago. We had a lot of snow. A lot! I had to use chains often, which meant we did not go anywhere unless it was necessary. The county plowed my driveway, which was nice. Without that we would have had to leave the car on the road and walk from it to the house, which was about a quarter of a mile off the road. Snowfall in that area was measured in feet, not inches. My wife's son and I made a snowball in the yard by just rolling a small ball of snow. It got bigger and bigger. When it was so big the two of us together could not roll it anymore it was taller than I am. Sometimes snow is fun. Mostly it is work.

I loved the idea of snow when I was little. I always wanted to experience a "White Christmas" back then. Unfortunately I didn't live where it snowed, so I never got the opportunity. However, as an adult I don't care much for the snow. Sure, I love the beauty that it brings, but I don't like the cold and slick conditions that come along with it. So, unless I'm able to stay inside all winter long where it is warm and comfy, I have no interest to be around snow. LOL Happy mylotting!

My wife and I both get around in power wheelchairs. 7 years ago she moved here from California to marry me. For most of the year she loves living here because of all the historic sites we get to visit in and around Boston. But then comes winter...and snow. Snow sure looks pretty after a storm when it coats the trees and glistens in the sun. But it sure isn't any fun for those of us in wheelchairs. Sidewalks become impassable either because they're not cleared of snow or the curb cuts are blocked by mounds of the frozen white stuff when snow plows come along. In the snow-free months of the year we can easily get to the buses and trains and go out when we want and come back when we want. In the winter we have to make paratransit requests and then make do with the schedule they give us. And because it is a shared service that may involve picking up and dropping off other riders in a variety of towns. Those trips often take hours in vans where you feel every bump in the road. Also if it cold enough for snow then it means having to wear bulky clothing that for the disabled isn't easy to get on and off. So we're hoping for a mild winter with a minimal amount of the frozen white stuff.

I like watching it fall. I think it is beautiful. Then I love to see the fresh blanket of snow on everything. When it is all quiet and white. Looks like a painting out my living room window. I hate when it is tracked into the house, mushy and dirty.

Well, considering it -8 Fahrenheit here...with a windchill of -32 F, no - I have to say right now I don't like the snow. If it were in the teens, 20s, or lower 30s I'd have a different answer for you. Don't get me wrong, I love skiing, boarding, snow angel making but not in temps this cold! :)

I like to fall on christmas day and that is it, I can't stand climbing through snowbanks to get cross the street, I can't stand shoveling since I am disabled, I hate the ugly black snow, so dirty looking and I hate how you think you are walking on snow and there is ice underneath and you fall down on the sidewalk

It's beautiful to look at....but I HATE HATE HATE it because of the cold and ice that comes with it. Honestly I would stay in the house all winter if I possibly could. I would go check the mail and that would be it! I really would love to live somewhere like Texas or Florida or Arizona Marsha

I am not very fond of snow. I could honestly take it or leave it. It is pretty much just a pain when I have shovel to get out of my own driveway. It looks kind of pretty but who cares, it is pretty much a pain in the you know what, I hope to some day live somewhere where I don't have to put up with it or deal with any more. It is just nuesance to me.

I don't like it, its cold, it gets in your boots, its fun to watch people play in but I'm not a fan. Since we started moving we try to leave where it might get cold. I don't like driving in it either, you have no control and we usually have a U-Haul behind us so it would be driving us instead. Snowmen are cool, literally.

Since I never see snow because I live in San Antonio, I really like snow. I remember living up north and hating snow because I had to clean my car off and drive in it! Now, I miss it! It is so pretty to watch it fall. It is peaceful and serene. But, after a while, it gets dirty and ugly. I don't like it then!

I wish I would be able to see and experience snow before I die I am from a tropical country where snow is just seen on photos and tv. I think I would be awed when I see a place covered with snow and that it would be fun to play with it. But then, I am sure there is a downside As you said, it would be difficult to drive in it. Also, I am not sure if I would be able to withstand the cold. But I sure do want to find out
