I started smoking because of peer pressure. Almost everybody in my class was smoking and they were able to influence me. That was 15 years ago. And honestly i wasn't able to quit since then.
I now have young kids who are also in school. And I know a few more years there is a possibility that he can be influenced by his peers. How can I prevent my son from trying to smoke? Because eventually he may become a smoker like me after a few cigarette tries. I hope you can help me.

First thing to do stop your kid is to stop smoking. Most kids do smoke because their parents do. If you stop it, then your kid will take you as a role-model.
This is something like giving up something for the better of other. Your kid will also feel that his mother is quitting something for him, and may feel not to do the same mistake.

Same thoughts here, I guess everybody will suggest that I should quit first to be a role model.

I understand how you feel..please do take your son to rehabiliation centers who have helped many to get rid of this habit and change their life.

influence plays a big rule in smoking. like me, i work in call center where almost all of them are smokers and so out of curiosity i also tried it. then they become my peers as every time its break time i need to smoke so i can be with them or i will left behind. some just smoke due to take off stress while some smoke so they will not feel sleepy during break time. but i do stop smoking coz i suffered tonsillitis. i also saw some of my classmates before smoke at school due to their friends are also smokers, when i ask them if their parents know, they said no, coz they hide it. they only smoke outside.
