When DVD was in its prime / myLot

Anyone remember when DVD was in its prime? Around 2000-2003, companies used to add a whole bunch of features to DVDs. There would seem to be tons of special editions and alternate cuts on DVDs. Now it seems that neither DVDs or Blurays get many special features. There are even some DVDs and Blurays with completely barebones titles with no separate special editions.

And the DVD cost more that time. I think companies cut the features to bring the cost down. With the swarming of pirated DVD's in the market which sells like hotcake for those who can't afford the original.
