So, I just want to compare the price here, how much do you usually pay for to fix the brake? I meant the component including the brake pads; disc rotor on the front. Would it be exceed $200 in the shop? Recently, I want to fix the brake, and a friend of mine introduce his friend who can do it for me personally. All I need to do just buy the parts myself from the store. He would only charge me $75. Would it be worth it?

I do the brakes on my car myself usually just because I have to be ripped off my the mechanics. My husband doesn't know much about cars but he's good to help when the bolts are too tight, etc. My father is a mechanic and he's taught me basic car repair. The hour to hour and a half estimate is correct. Ask the mechanic how much their labor charge per hour is. About $80 per hour is average, but depends on where in the country (or what country) you're in. Then call the auto parts store to see how much the parts are there. When you spend a little extra, you can usually get brake pads with a lifetime warranty. That means if you have someone do the work for you, or if you can find a mechanic that will put your parts on the car (most won't), then you would never have to pay for brake pads for that car again. Next time you need to have them replaced, you can bring in your old ones for exchange or refund. As for the rotors, it's possible to have them turned down (stave them smooth) at a mechanic for cheaper than replacing them. This can only be done a couple of times before they get too thin and then need to be replaced. But turning them is cheaper than replacing them every time. Good luck.

Hi clorissa my dear, well I'm so sorry to hear that you're having more car trouble again, it just seems one thing after another with that car of yours. Now that sounds terribly expensive my dear but I haven't had to pay for that one yet, but if it helps one of the nice identical twins in one of the garagaes yesterday told me 45 euros to replace 2 fan belts, I never even knew the car had more than one. I think that's a lot so will probably take it to the other garage and he'll probably do it for half the price .
