Do you ever wonder if your tiredness has another cause then just being tired

as I often do I got an idea for a discussion from reading
about another person who complained of extreme tiredness.
I had the idea from reading his sthat his weariness'
might just be more than normal fatigue. sometimes without
our knowing it and for unexplained reasons our red blood
cell count goes below the normal average and suddenly no
matter how much or how little we do, we feel utterly sickeningly exhausted. so I am wondering how many people have ever thought that it might not be just plain tiredness.
What are your views on that? I know some tiredness is just
normal but extreme tiredness often is not. I am anemic and
as long as I take my iron pills I feel fine and do not tire
easily.

Once in a while i get that feeling too. Like I'm so tired. But when I get to think why? and what's causing my tiredness I realized that maybe there something else that is causing it.. especially when i know that i did not do anything that may cause me too much tiredness. For example, I just spend my time in the office calling people.
Maybe the stress that comes from talking to negative people tires me.
There are times, I had tons of work at the office but I dont feel so tired at all.
I guess tireness, isnt just physical but emotional as well. When you spend your time with positive people work wont be that tiring at all. But if you spend your time with so many negative people, though you did not exert too much effort you will feel like you had the whole day tired.

stress can really wear you out and being around negative
people does not help either. But if you continue to be'
very tired its not a bad idea to check with your doctor
for anemia as anemia makes everything so hard to do
as you just do not have any energy left.

Well yes sometimes I wounder about that, but not lately because I know the main reason why I've been so tired the biggest reason is because I have a really wild indoor cat that won't let me sleep at night, the other reason is because I'm a big night owl that tends to stay up late, and finally the last reason I feel tired is because I haven't been sticking to my normal eating habits and rules, also I've been eating a lot of late night junk food and drinking a lot of soda instead of water, but with the new year starting soon I'll work hard to change back to a healthier life style.

hi apples99 you sound like me, I am also a night owl, and do not get as many hours of sleep as I should. also I am overweight and must lose some weight.so this coming year my only resolution is to lose weight and walk moree, and eat smarter, all of which help to lose the weight. my doctor says just ten or fifteen pounds lost would bring my blood glucose level back to normal much easier. I am a diabetic, type two on pills and I am unfortunately a person with a sweet tooth. wAh wah.

Well even though I'm not overweight I still need to improve my eating habits so I'll have more energy and of course eating healthier will lower my chances of getting high cholesterol when I'm older. I've always had fairly good eating habits until recently, I think its mostly due to stress, I think that caused me to eat unhealthy healthy its been a roller coaster year for me with more lows then high points but maybe 2010 will be better lets hope.
As for being a night owl, yes we can definitely hang together in that regard because I tend to stay up really late hahah I'm soo bad oh well.

hi thoroughrob yes depression makes us all feel so tired and
lethargic. there are a lot of reasons why we feel tired but
still it wou ld not hurt to have your blood checked for
anemia. if you haveit you just need to take iron and eat
iron rich foods and you will soon feel energized again.

I have found that I get tired more when I don't eat properly. Too much sugar, too much salt or not enough protein and vegetables can make me feel exhausted. Sleep can be a contributor, too, if you don't get enough or you don't sleep well which is the case with me.
I think what we eat has a lot to do with being tired.

hi dragon54u thats what makes anemia so hard to pinpoint as it causes the same feeling a lot of others things do too. but
a simple blood test will verify if you are anemic and then
you can take iron for it and eat the right foods and you
will soon be fine again.

My daughter has to take iron tablets as well, as she is a vegan.
Extreme tiredness can be caused by a number of factors I believe.
Depression is a significant cause of excessive tiredness.
Chronic fatigue syndrome causes tiredness.
Undiagonsed glandular fever can cause a lot of tiredness.
I imagine there are a number of conditions.

its true that getting tired sometimes is normal and a complete rest will help you charged up. but extreme tiredness even if you're not that busy at all doesn't sound really good. food has always something to do with it im sure. eating the right ones most of the time will make our machine inside work smoothly. unhealthy foods will surely make some of our body parts work irregulary. in my case whenever i eat unhealthy foods, i try to cleanse immediately by drinking lot of water and pure citrus juice. i make sure that i flush them all out in the toilet.

I never have thought about drinking a lot of water and citrus juice to flush out all the unhealthy foods. I usually do drink a lot of water whenever I'm full after a big meal, though, and it helps get rid of the fullness. I'll try to remember about it getting rid of the unhealthy foods from now on. You learn something new all the time, don't you? Kathy.

When I'm tired I just take a nap, if its the evening I'll sleep. I've never had a low blood count so I don't know what its like to have that feeling. I'm sure if you take your iron pills it will help. I also think that people work too hard to keep up with the lifestyle they have created. Its exhausting and not worth the stress it causes.

hi gitfiddleplayer its a really odd feeling, sort of like being depressed but not depression, just like its hard to just walk across the room. but I take iron pills and also search for foods that boost my iron and now I am fine. I get tired just normally and sleep and naps takes care of that.yes a lot of people almost kill themselves trying to keep up or surpass their wealthier neighbors and thats so silly. not worth it at all.

There are a whole lot of things that can cause someone to feel tired. One such example is depression, I learnt about this in school and it's rather a serious illness. 1 in 5 people will suffer from a serious depression. That's alarming statistics. I know how it feels to be tired from depression because I have it myself and it has been diagnosed as serious as well from the symptoms that I have describes to councillors.
Then there are things like medical conditions like what you mentioned with the low blood count. But the thing I thing people could do more is to do regular exercise. While I was studying at school I never played sports and just studying all the time I always felt lethargic and no energy in me. So there are numerous reasons for feeling tired.

hi gloamgloze you are so right. I have felt lethargic lately and know its because I have been mylotting way too much and not getting outside and taking even a short walk. hence my legs'
swell and t he doctor said its simply from sitting here too long at a time and not walking around. mylotting is my real addiction but I am learning to take breaks now.
I have had friends with depression so bad they could not hardly get out of bed and felt like life was not worth it.'
But I learned to control how I handled stress as I am a diabetic
'and stress will shoot my blood sugar up high without touching a bite of food. I pretend when stress threatens that I have an invisible bubble around me that is stress proof and nothing can bother me. this image really worked for me as stress will happen no matter what but if you can handle it so it doesnt make you ill then it will not bother you.

You are on the right track Hatley. Tiredness could be the result of several factors and all one needs to do is go for a thorough check up when this happens. Speculations is not what I would recommend but a thorough examination is a must.

Sometimes you can be mentally tired and it wears you down physically as well. I have been like that many times. The doctor said it was common. Being stressed out can make you fatigue as well. I saw on a show one time this girl slept on and off for 8wks. It was really strange. It was found out finally that she did have some disease that cause that. It had something to do with her brain.Just think of all the diseases that people have that doesnt have a name yet.

I think being so tired has a lot to do with the stresses that you have in your mind and also i believe it has a something to do with the vitamins and minerals that you get from the stuff you eat. Like taking those iron pills, which is good for the blood, and when you've got a good amount of iron in your blood, it can contribute to optimizing your energy for the entire day. And i believe lack of sleep and not enough food intake makes you a lot more tired too.

things come together to help us have maximum good health
sleeping enough, eating the right foods and right amounts
and taking vitamins if we need them. Sleep is so important
too.

Extreme tiredness is one of the symptoms of diabetes. I'm sure it's an indication of other ailments as well. Depression for example.
I get unreasonably tired and fall asleep at the computer sometimes...whether it is morning or afternoon, sometimes even an hour after a good night's sleep. Mind you, I only ever get 5 or 6 hours at night so I try and sleep a bit in the afternoons. My tiredness can be a worry when I'm driving.

I take iron pills so that I don't get anemia. I think that my friend is tired because she suffers from depression. Another one of my friends can feel really tired because he gets ever so hungry. He is large and doesn't exercise enough. I feel tired when my young children haven't slept well in the night time. It is winter in my home country and some people are suffering from the seasonal affective disorder (SAD). They can feel tired because of a lack of sunlight therefore special lamps can help sufferers. So what I have is normal tiredness and I will keep taking my iron pills.

How long have you been taking iron pills, Hatley?
For me, when I was small, I would take this very nice flavored vitamin liquid my mom bought in the pharmacy and it made me healthy and too agile, LOL. Nowadays, I just need 4 hours of sleep and that will do. I don't need much. However, my mind gets tired easily and I need to chill somewhere just to ward off the burn off.

I mean I was not going to say I was worked sick about my adult son. mothers wil always be mothers no matter how old a son is. he he.

I do get overly tired from time to time and when that happens I go back to taking vitamin B-12 tablets for a few days. My anemia comes and goes so I guess I am lucky in that. I had it really bad as a teenager and had to get iron shots twice a week for a long time and I hated those things. The nurse always had to use a "horse needle" and shoot me in the hip. I really think she just enjoyed embarrassing me by telling me to drop my pants!

hi fwidman oh those horse needles I hated that. I had to have vitamin b12 when pregnant with my first child as my morning'sickness was all day sickness. and oh how they
hurt and the big lump on ones butt. sitting was really horrid
too. i am so glad that I can take tasteless iron pills now
for my persistant anemia. I was almost through with them once then a cou ple of years ago I had a siege of bleeding diverticulitis. all because I had ate three cups of black berries and the seeds collected in one of the diverticuli and nicked a blood vessel. so once more my red blood cell count went way down and I had to have four pints of blood before it came back to normal and they said, back on the iron pills at once. so there i am taking iron again. but feel fine so thats okay.

Sometimes its the brain which makes the body tired. I mean if the brain is tired then then the body also feels tired even if the body has not done much physical work. It could happen due to hours of reading or insufficient sleep.

i just finished my latest task---an important exam of my life,i had prepared for it several months and i often felt tired especially during those days i got up at 6 o'clock and went to bed about 24 o'clock regularly.however,i have to say those days i was under a great deal of presure, thus i could not sleep well to recover my vitality, that was a malicious circle that made me almost ruined.you know what, interestingly, after my exam,i found i have adjusted to this life,i still get up at 6 and back to bed at 24 again, but this time,i can never feel any tiredness.so,i personally believe that my tiredness was caused by a high level of presure.
