What do you think of Michael Owen's hattrick yesterday?Manchester United produced a good all round performance with as many as 15 front line players missing.Just proves Sie Alex Ferguson's theory of blooding youngsters in not so important matches so that they can deliver when the big occasion arrives and they are called upon to perform.

Despite so many youngsters on display, it was the old fox in the box, Michael Owen who caught the eye and made the headlines. I think he has been another shrewd buy by Sir Alex. I think he has been great in identifying such players who have gone off their boil and then bringing them on to give them a new life!!
Cheers!

what makes it even better is that Sir Alex got Owen for free! How I wish Rafa could have snapped Owen back to Liverpool but that would put a slap on his face for ditching him when he first came in for an undervalued amount. What a waste!

Wonderful hatrick from Owen, I must say I was surprised when Sir Alex brought Owen to Old Trafford but yet again he has proved what a shrewd and excellent manager he is!! It is good to know that United have a good stock of youngsters coming through, I find it exciting to see them, knowing that they could be the team of the future, and as always playing the United way, that is with pride and passion.

I agree, I was also skeptical of bringing Owen to Old Trafford but it seems that Sir Alex knows exactly what he's doing.
The best of the youngsters has got to be Gibson and I see him and Fletcher playing at United for a very long time as a possible replacement for Scholes.

Owen has always been a great striker. He is superb for Liverpool, Madrid, Newcastle and now with United. He still have some years left in his career so hopefully he can get England call up after his terrific performance.

No one can deny Michael Owen's quality as a striker. He'll always be a great striker. I'm sure he'll make another goals for Man. United. With Owen, Rooney and Berbatov in the front line, Man. United will have a lot of goals and victories. Glory glory Man. United..

Hm, I'm just delighted to see Owen still can sprints :) great sprints from Owen from the middle of the field, the defender just can't keep up with him. Then he finished it with cool chip pass the keeper.
And a little correction, is it really 15 players missing? I don't think so. around 10 (from BPL injury table, check it on http://wienzzz.co.cc :p) players injured. Most notable injury on defence position. United have roughly 9 defender (Rio, Vidic, Evra, Neville, Evans, O'Shea, Rafael, Fabio, Brown, and de Laet), 7 of them are injured and de Laet ineligible. This injury list added by Wayne Rooney, Dimitar Berbatov, and Frederico Macheda + long-term absentee Owen Hargreaves.
It is good to see youngster like Gibbo, Obertan, and Wellbeck can cope well with this.

Great work there by St. Michaels. The scousers are probably calling for Rafa's head not to sign him for free LoL. The most important play though was Obertan's cameo. Great skill and pass for Owen's finish. For 3m we look like we have a gem in our hands.
