I have been away from home for quite some time and I wasn't able to attend to a number of family gathering. But I promised my mom and dad that I will be going home for the holidays. To make up for my absences I was planning to prepare some food. My worry is I do not know what food or meal to prepare. I wanted a food which is healthy and delicious but will not increase my weight. I have been trying to loss excess fats for quite some time and I do not want the holidays to ruin it. Friends can you suggest what meal or food should I prepare?

For one it is the holidays. Eat many little meals and that will help not to gain weigh over the holidays. Turkey or ham with potatoes, noodles, stuffing, gravy, biscuits prefer homemade, and a few pies with cool whip can't forget the cool whip. I wish I could say the holidays are going to be good for me this year but I am away from my family and that makes it an awful one but will make up for it after the first of the year. I am planning on a big celebration when we are all together again though. I will have turkey, ham and potatoes, noodles, gravy, pies candy and cool whip everyone's favorite.Just a few things to think about for your meal and family.

I will make a turkey with all the trimmings. I have a tray of lasagne that I made and froze for Christmas Eve. I will make sauce with meatballs and sausages to go with that. We eat pretty well during the holiday season.
My daughter will bake cookies and brownies and make the kitchen a mess! It is a magical time of the year.

You can get a lean turky or ham. They are good holiday favorite, and they will give you protines and slow-burning food. Go lite on potatos and starches as they can cause you to gain weight. Best bet is to buy the potatos yourself, slice boil them and mash them instead of living on instant. You'd probably be making the food for a large group, so don't worry about excess. It will be good, and it could be saved for later meals. Buy whole vetagables whever possible and maybe something sweet, like cranbery jelly. Its a fruit-based substance and its healther then pies and candy.
