Do You Recycle Cooking Oil?

I was preparing dinner and the menu tonight consists of pan fried chicken breast fillet and a side dish of veggies. Now I am not a hard-core user of cooking oil, I only use about a fifth of what others may use in cooking or frying. My reason for this is that I hate recycling oil. Imagine other people pouring large quantities of oil and then after one cooking will store it in a jar and use it the next time. I don't practice this because this contaminates food or affects the flavor of food. So do you recycle cooking oil?

most of the time, we do re-use cooking oil. that will only save some money and the budget we have, as we have less money to save. but it's true, we recycle. but what i have learned from others and my parents, is to get some garlic fried first, before cooking. that will put away the odor left from the first or the last food cooked or fried with the used cooking oil.

I don't like to recycle oil, but I have done it once. Oil is expensive and once I felt bad to waste a lot of oil. This problem occurs especially when you cook deep fry items. We often make Chicken 65 which requires deep fry. Once it is done, the oil is waste. I think hotels use the oil over and over to cook. It is not advisible to have hostel food often.

Hi anne!
You are thinking on the right lines. Excess use of oil for cooking is not a healthy practice and re-cycling of it sometimes could be very dangerous. I understand that we should not re-cycle or re-use the cooking oil, once we have prepared a dish in it. We normally do not re-cycle the cooking oil and like you try to use the oil, as per requirements.

anne25;penn no I never reused cooking oil as particles of fried meat which turned to carcinogens are left in the used oil and thus contaminate food with hard high fried food birs that contain carcinogens, things leading to cancer so its not a safe practice at all.just use less oil and toss it out after cooking. not safe to do otherwise.

Yes I do recycle cooking oil sometimes if I am only frying something like french fries or any thing that doesn't make the oil goes yucky afterwards but I only normally do it for like 2 times and then throw away the cooking oil after that. I find it a waste of oil though if i just throw it right away in the sink especially if know that the oil is still very clean.
