My 13 month old daughter has been trying to cut this one tooth in for about a month and a half so far. for a while the gums were swollen and where the tooth was coming in looked like a huge water blister. yesterday i got up and it was of a bluish color. I called the dentist that my sons go see. He really had no idea what it was so he called a pediatric dentist in our area who told him it was a Eruption Hematoma that was basically caused by the tooth pushing through the skin. They took a small needle and got some of the blood and such out of it. It isnt bluish in color anymore but is still swollen.. it looks really painful, but im hoping her tooth will come through soon and all will be ok. has this ever happened to one of your kids? Did you have a dentist look at it?

Luckily, both of my children have been able to cut their teeth without any issues. However, this isn't so much the case for my fifteen month old niece that I babysit during the day. Her gums have been swollen and painful looking for a few weeks now where she is trying to cut her one year molars. My brother and sister-in-law have not taken her to the dentist for it, but I can tell that she is uncomfortable with trying to break the teeth through and I will give her lots of things to chew on during the day to help her out with the process.

thats the one destiny had problems with and to be honest since i took her to the dentist and had them pop the hematoma thing, it has actually been a lot easier.. she is in less pain, sleeps well, and you cna even feel the tooth now so it should break skin fully within a day or two. if it stays swollen too long i would have it checked out. des was swollen almost a month and a half before the hematoma appeared.

Wow I've never heard of that I hope your child isn't in any pain. I mean more pain then normal for a baby cutting teeth. I was thinking it might ease her pain if she where to eat popcycles or ice cream maybe? I hope the tooth comes in pretty soon and that the rest of her teeth don't do the same thing.
