Even though we have alot of different religions in the USA most people celebrate Christmas the same way. We have a Christmas tree, presents (mostly to children) and a big dinner with family. This all happens on December 25th every year. I was wondering since we have so many mylotters from all over the world, I would like to know how the different religions and countries celebrate Christmas or do they. No answer is right or wrong it is just interesting to me.

So pray for us

That is heartbreaking. It is not about the symbolism but the ability to celebrate the birth of Jesus and the act of giving in your own tradition and way.

Hi hagirl, I live in a multiracial country, Malaysia. The majority of the citizens here are made up of three main races of different religious faiths. Though we are people of different religion we still enjoy having public holidays of Christmas (Christian), Spring Festival (Chinese), Hari Raya AidilFitri (muslim), Depavalee (Hindu). All the shopping malls, restaurants and hotels, as well as many public recreation parks, etc will decorate attractively with big colorful and well designed posters and striking ornaments related to their respective festival. The twinkling neon lights of various colors make the night scene more fascinating Other than having the countdown ceremony to welcome the grand festival. The related societies do hold festive function to entertain people of different religion. There are lots of movies as well as programs on tv broadcast to welcome and to celebrate the same festive day as well. At present, we can see all the shopping malls, hypermarkets, and other big building are well decorated with beautiful stuffs related to Christmas festival. Christmas songs can be heard on air at every corner as well. We can see Christmas ornaments, cookies, chocolates of different varieties are displayed in the conspicuous showcases in the shopping malls. All these have boosted the festive atmosphere up to the top Happy posting and Merry Christmas!

If people respond this could be a very interesting discussion. I do have a board with star ornaments clear across above a doorway. This is an idea I got when reading about the customs of Finland, the country where my hubby's ancestors come from.

I had a friend that was a Jehovah Witness and they do not believe in Christmas with gifts but celebrate solely as the birth of Jesus. She told me they do not exchange gifts or decorate but give gifts all year around. I wonder if that is a US jehovah witness tradition or is it different in different countries among Jehovah Witnesses. There are also countries and a religion(cannot remember the name) that celebrates the 12 days of Christmas but it is called something else. I am excited about this discussion and hope it goes somewhere.
