hey my friends.recently,i read a book which is written by a philosopher, who said money may be treated as a necessity for foundmental livig but our life would be corrupted by luxury things.he pointed that the most confortable living was the enjoyment of loving, friendship, art, thinking, natrual and so on.he believs that the naturalest things are the best things.and a leisure life may be the perfect form of living.when we get the articals that can meet our basic living,we shoud not want more, the luxury substence will make our spirit life unfree, for we will miss in the matter in that way.of course, people in morden times get much convinient from the luxurise, but they are not free.they are more luxury other than happiness.we need to live a leisure life!

I think that luxuries can be and most often are not necessary. There is a certain feeling to have all you ever wanted or dreamed of, but then again there is also a certain feeling with being happy with what you go, even if it is meager.
I think that luxuries can corrupt us in that it makes us greedy and spoiled, and broken once times get bad like the economy is now.

I think that I agree with you, those in the big city don't realize how luxuries can be a waste, am I right by assuming that's what you meant?
I live in the country but once lived in the city, and I realized that once living in the country, I was truly meant to be here and that while technology is nice we can't soon forget the knitty gritty.

i think the reason why you feel truly meant to be in the contry is that when you live there, you can touch the natrualest things and your spirit life can be more confortable.
also technology brings much more convinient to our daily life, but wo should not forget the essence of life.wo shoud and must go close to the natrual,a simple life may lead to a free life.

Hi xiaozuo: I think that's almost what i think. My pont of view about this subject is that you should buy those things that you need for a good living, those that make you a better person (for educational reasons it's important to invest some money), thinking about your future because we need to prevent things and finally you could buy some things to make your life more comfortable, it's fair to us because we need to love ourselves. I don't expect more money that for these things, i am not the kind of person that want to buy and buy things they simply don't need but our culture is so motivated by this way of life i think. Thanks for starting this discussion. I found really nice to answer this question. Hope everything is ok. Have a nice day.

hi starsailover!maybe we are in the same situation.here in China, our culture is also motivated by the life of making money.when we were young we were told that we should study hard and did our best to enter in a good university, and the final destination they told us was making money.now i am in a key university, and i am a law major student, the students around me all try their best to do sth that can ensure they can make more money after graduation.but i am confused,i do think that the more we will earn the happier we will be.the happiest life is from your heart.of course, just as you say we need the fountmental money to help us live a good life.what is your opinion?
