Do you have the habit of sleeping in afternoon.

Hi, Many of the people having the habit of sleeping in afternoon. Many of us feel tired and they doesn't control their sleep in afternoon. I don't know whether it's a good or bad habit. I will not sleep in afternoon always, but due to my work timing i feel tired in and went to sleep. Is it a good habit to continue.

Hi, As far as my opinion is concerned,i will say that it is advisable to take some rest after a good lunch.Just for 15 to 20 minutes.Because it will raise the digestion.But in normal routine if we take a light meal in the noon than we don't need any sleep in the afternoon. In case of people with night jobs,they need sleep in the noon.

Hi friend, I also had the same belief.But came to know later that when we take food,our digestive organs will start their work.SO they will need more blood flow to them.If we take rest for a little time,Our remaining organs will also remain non active and hence more blood flow will be towards stomach and all. Well.have nice time.

Hi, You are correct, we need some time sleep after heavy lunch. You said it will helps for digestion. But some says it will lead belly. Any one, doesn't need belly.

HI DEAR sleeping in afternoon is not a bad habit, see sleeping is good for health and you can refreshing your mental situation. Even you can maintain your hormonse for your body don't worry dear sleepin is good habit, but you should get control on it, it should be a controlable.

Ya i know sleeping is not the bad habit. Doctors too advised to sleep for nearly ten hours per day. But my question was, there is a time to sleep at night but why many suggested to sleep in afternoon too.

I don't also take a nap or sleep in the afternoon. I have to reserve my sleep in the night so I have a better sleep.I prefer not to sleep in the afternoon no matter how tired or sleepy I am I just can't sleep. When I was a kid I used to sleep in the afternoon but when I gets older I can't force myself to take a nap. It is good to take a nap so your body will energize again and your mind going to be fresh again.

Yes your suggestion was correct. If we continue any habit for some time we will not able to get away from it. But many members suggested to have a sleep in afternoon.

hi cognoscentethelegend, sleeping in the afternoon is good for you. There is a research that 20 minutes of a nap can refresh your brain. While youn sleeping your brain is doing like disk defragment. When you wake up you will feel more active then force yourself to go for afternoon. I also take a nap in the after noon, too.

I think you are the first person to tell sleep in afternoon. Many of my friends suggested not to sleep in afternoon and it is bad for health. But you was correct at one point, after sleep our brain is refreshing.

I think if your body is tired you owe it some rest. i am not one who sleeps much in the afternoon. If I find myself tired I will lay down to nap. I find it will save my life in the long run. I will stay up if it is close to my bed time though. But over all I nap only when I am really tired.

Ya, really when ever we feel tired, we need some rest. Otherwise our internal organs will lead to some problem.

hi bro, Sleeping in the afternoon in my view is not necessary if you have a good night sleep, like 8 - 10 hrs. of good sleep. If you have late night works as you said then its necessary to have your body to take rest by sleeping. But you cannot feel completely relaxed after afternoon sleep as compared to night sleep. After afternoon sleep you may feel laziness, dizzy and sometimes you can't have a good night sleep after afternoon sleep. I hope this may heip you. Thankyou

Sorry friend in night it take me late night to sleep. And in early morning, i want to go for job. So i doesn't think i have a good sleep at night. How many hours we need to sleep at night to make healthy life.

I don't know if its good or bad, but I do feel too drwsy in the afternoon perhaps I have to get early in the morning and after work when I come back in the noon, it absolutley a must for me to sleep. I do feel sleepy at night too, some times my family say I should get checked for some underlying illness but I haven't got around to getting it done as yet.

Well, I can say that I'm not one of those people, who sleeps in the afternoon. It's not because I don't have the time. It's mainly due to the fact that, for one reason or another, I can't really do it. Even if I'm really tired and I try to sleep, I can't. And even I did, it would a little more difficult for me to fall asleep at night. The only times when I might be able to do this is when I'm really not feeling well, and/or when I have a migraine.

Really that's nice to hear from you. Some suggest sleeping in afternoon is a bad thing and we do not continue. If people work in night shifts, what they will do. They doesn't have the time to sleep in night.

I never sleep in the afternoon. I used to go to school in the afternoon as a kid. So, I never had this habit. I only sleep at night and that is enough for me. I feel afternoon sleep very irritating. I do not know whether it is a good habit or not but I do not like people who sleep in the afternoon. They seem a bit lazy to me. It is a completely different matter for those who work night shifts. In those cases it is understandable that they have to sleep in the afternoon because they cannot sleep at night.

I do and I don't like it. It seems like every winter I get to where I am so tired by about 11 am and then again around 7pm. I try not to take naps during the day because then it causes me to want to not sleep at night when I am suppose to be sleeping. There are times when I won't fall asleep until 3 or 4 am because I have taken a nap for that day.

I don't have time to sleep in the afternoon now since i have to fetch my son at school and send him to school by myself in the afternoon, so i have be there waiting at the outside of his school.

Siesta - One does not have to coil up in ones bedroom for their siesta. Even outdoors serves the purpose
Since I am an early riser I need to take a break inbetween and what better way than to take a short nap in the afternoons. It refreshes me and I am up and about ready to finish the day with enthusiasm and vigour.

Well, there are some people who do that specially the children because most of their parents advice them to do so but I don't seemed to see any problem on that and that's okay most importantly to the little ones. In my case, I don't consider it as a sleep rather it's only a nap because I just need 20 minutes to take a short sleep and that's okay after that I'm awake again and back to business, hehe.

Hi, cogno. No, I don't have this habit. I hardly sleep in the afternoon like that. But, if it is very hot during the summer then I will sleep. I take little short cat naps for about 15 minutes. These naps feel like I was sleeping for an whole hour!!

I do not have the habit of sleeping in the afternoon. If I take a nap in the afternoon I could not sleep at night. Even if I do not feel well I still can not sleep in the afternoon I just go to bed about 8pm but still only get 8 or 9 hours of sleep. If I get tired in the afternoon I will just close my eyes for a few minutes and then I am ready to go again.

Oversleeping is a bad habit, and often makes you feel more tired then if you had slept less then 8 hours! I try not to sleep in too much because if I do it makes me feel slow and sluggish for the rest of the day, which isn't a good way to start out! I like to have the whole day ahead of me, and lots of time to get everything done. When I do sleep in though it's usually only until noon, I can't stay in bed longer then that, I would go crazy!

hi,by default if i get sometime free in the afternoon i would pefer to sleep as it helps me rejuvenate my energy levels to a great...i feel if as it has boosted my energy levels.....

Hello, I tend to think that rather than sleeping, I take a power nap. 15 to 30 minutes at the most. Sometimes I sleep, sometimes I keep my eyes closed and concentrate on the most outstanding good thing going on in my life today. I'll even snore if my eyes are just closed. I can feel refreshed with this amount of time, any longer and it's harder to get going. I'm better able to focus on arising. This works well with a grandbaby in my lap also.
