In my house mostly we have fixed CFL bulbs. Though they are a bit costly, they are economical and save energy. Within short time, we can take the money paid as they consume less power. At the same time, in our bed rooms we have tube lights too. For zero watts and for few extra points, we have ordinary bulbs. What do you use in your house? What do you feel about them?

Hi Buchi! I believe in less carbon emission and I wish to contribute my part in reducing the so called global warming, it is therefore, I have got installed CFL in my home. There is hardly any bulb which is used in my home. CFLs consume less energy and give more light to us, though they are costlier, yet they are better for saving electricity in the long run.

I too agree that CFL consumes less energy. But I doubt whether it is enough to study, especially for senior citizens like me whose eye sight is not that very sharp like youngsters. Please Clarify this point Dpk262006. Bichari vandanako kyon satatehain?

What was that thumbs up for! I categorically mentioned I use tubelights in general living area. I cant adjust to lesser light. I am not an nocturnal animal like yourself. LOL. I need a lot of light. Therefore, tubelights all around.

I use CFL in bathrooms, and kitchen because they consume less power, and generally it is here that people forget to switch off lights. I also use CFL's in balconies. Tubelights are there everywhere else, and in the drawing room, we also have the chandelier with normal bulbs which is used very rarely like at the time of festival. :) There is some feel good factor with that amount of light, isn't it? My flat is very small, but I love that piece. :)

Yes, very true vandana7. Chandelier light adds extra glamour for the festival and occasion.

We are having CFL bulbs and CFL bulbs are helping us to save electricity. I think it is good to have CFL bulbs than ordinary bulbs. I brought one CFL bulb per month and changed the bulbs. I was able to change all the bulbs to CFL bulbs within months and was happy I was able to save some electricity through it.

Yes. Even I do the same. I buy CFL bulbs periodically and change bulbs. Now I have a stock of few CFL bulbs too so that I will not run in case of need to the shop. Have a good day.

In my apartment I use ordinary bulbs, but in summer I love to use energy-saving bulbs in the bathroom and the study which I seldom use.

Very true. Where usage is less, we can use CFL bulbs. Even at backyards and front portion of the house also, we can use them to save energy.

Yes. For reading purpose tube light is suitable. May be if we put higher power cfl, it may suit for reading. I do not know about this point. But in my house we have tubelights in rooms.

We have all the above three bulbs. In some places, we fixed ordinary bulbs, in some other places, both tube lights and CFL bulbs and near the wash basins, it is neither tube nor CFL but one ordinary bulb and one special sort of bulb we have fized. It looks like 1/4th size of a tubelight but broad, I think twin tubes inside covered by glass case

Then that twin tube light must be giving good lighting.

We just have regular traditional lightbulbs. My husband and i are not interested in the new bulbs because of the health concerns, and as long as we can get the good old ones up here in Canada, we are going to continue to buy and use those particular lightbulbs.

ordinary bulb - The image of the ordinary bulb
I never heard that cfl bulbs will cause any health concern. However, if you are satisfied with the available bulbs then why not use them? Traditional lightbulbs means the usual olden days bulb right? The image of that is uploaded here.

We only use tube light and CFL. It's economical and energy saver. We no longer use ordinary bulbs because not only is it costly but the lifespan is a bit shorter if you compare it to CFL too. Besides CLF bulbs are becoming cheaper too as more and more brands are coming in to the market. Cheers!
