Malaria is a very old disease. Its outbreak is seen largely in Latin America, Africa and South-East Asia. Every year a large number of people die of malaria. The cause of this deadly disease is mosquito-bite.Anopheles mosquitoes are the carriers of malaria-parasites.There are two types of malaria--ordinary and malignant. Malignant malaria is very dreadful . The symptoms of malaria are headache, sudden rise of temperature with shivering and vomiting. In case of malaria, affected patients feel loss of appetite, their spleen and liver are affected. For detection of malaria blood-test should be done. A patient affected with malaria should be administered quinine. In case of malignant malaria proper treatment should be made in consultation with physician. As prevention is better than cure adequate steps should be taken to prevent this deadly disease, care should be taken to stop stagnation of water in drains, ditch or any type of open container which are the breeding places of mosquitoes. Insecticides like DDT,Malathion must be sprayed at proper intervals.Mosquito-nets should be used at the time of sleeping. For controlling malaria people should be made careful and conscious about clean environment. Anti-malaria drive should be taken by the Government and NGOs.

I am very keen on traveling. I especially love to visit tropical places. Twice in my life I have taken anti malaria pills. That medication gave me terrible side affects. I went to Indonesia and Malaysia on the first trip. Those pills affected my sight. The second time I went to Kenya. Those pills made my mouth and throat get ulcers. Luckily I didn't get malaria. It is sad that people die from malaria or get very ill.
