I think it depends on how old is that kid. But for mostly kids, a portable dvd player can give bad effect to their eyes' health. But if the dvd player is using lcd screen, i think we can it won't really harming kid's eyes. However kids might be bored with that thing after some times, so don't really worry about it. Giving portable dvd player however is much better than giving a portable gaming gadget for the kids. Portable gaming gadget has higher part for kids' eyes health problem. Just tell the kids if they might watching with the dvd player but remember don't starring to close to it. It's totally different with if they are playing game with a portable gaming gadget such as playstation portable or gameboy advence, or something like that because children will starring to the gadget closer and closer while playing a game. I think it's normal reaction but however it's bad for eyes' health. Have a nice day and happy mylotting.

i don't know but in reality i think that a portable dvd player for a kid that he's only three years old is too much...may be it can be more suitable other kind of objects nearer to his age..a portable player sounds me too much complicated and may eb dangrious for a so young kid!!
