My friend's been on the pill for some months now. You see, i have this friend who has a history of a crazy menstruation schedule, sometimes it comes four times a year, and sometimes, when it does come to her, her menses would last for a whole month. then she got hospitalized for that and was told to take "the pill" by her doctor for six months. Do you really think it can help regularize menstruation? why do you think it does? i really need your opinion on that, because as much as i'd like to believe her doc, i'm a bit suspicious on the whole pill thing.

Tubal ligation??? I don't think so. Its not a solution to her problem. once a person is ligated he can never bore a child, unless she her physician use temporary ligation. What if her friend is still single? Anyway, why do you think tubal ligation is the solution?

Hello,
your friend did well listening to her doctor. The Pill can eather improve or worsten your menstruation, it is different for different women. There is no possible way of knowing what is good for you, personally, until you go to your doctor and make the necessary examinations. So, my advise is not to try anything on your own, and you should tell that your friend :)
i am curious, though why are you so suspicious "on the whole pill thing?". There are a lot of modern "pills" that are harmless if taken strictly by the prescription. And I repeat that these pills should never be taken without the permission of your doctor, even if you have had them before, you still have to ask him about it.
I hope i helped

It's true. The pill will help regulate her periods. It sounds as if she could really be helped by taking the pill. When on the pill if taken properly then you know exactly when your period will start and when it will end each and every month. I think you should encourage your friend to listen to her doctor on this.

Yes the pill does help a lot. It is designed to not only prevent pregnancy but also to regulate your menstrual cycle. I too had irregular painful periods and was advised by my doctor to take the pill and it has worked. Now my periods are regulated and I don't get any menstrual cramps/pains. So yes the pill is an awesome relief to painful and irregular periods.

Birth control pills have different effects on everyone, since everybody's body is biologically very different. Some women do in fact use the pill to help regulate or reduce the number of periods they get; I knew of one girls at my school that began taking birth control pills at the age of 15 specifically to help regulate her period.

I heard friends asked their OB and they where prescribed to take birth control pills,
And that helps regulate their menstruation. It helps regulate their monthly period and hormones.

My understanding is that certain birth controls can help with menstrual irregularities, but I think that your friend should talk to her doctor about this. Each woman is different. There are a few different things that can make her period irregular. So, before looking into birth control and such, the doctor is in a better position to determine what to do.

Hi karen..I think it is best for you to believe on her doctor. I really do not know what is in the pill that it is usually prescribed to those kind of cases. My sister has a little bit similar on your friends case. She was given a lot of prescription and one of those is a contraceptive pill. maybe because it has a component of helping the female hormones regulate normally. and help the eggs mature early.

Hi karen, my wife used to have a similar situation. Her OB advised her to takes birth control pills for a while and it helped her improve her situation. It is always good to follow your doctors advise especially if you trust your doctor. You can always seek a second (or even a third) opinion. It is also very important to remember how long you must take pills. Unreasonable prolonged use may not be good. You also have to watch out for side effects like sever headache, dizzyness or even increase in appetite. It would probably be the brand of pills which you can ask your doctor about changing it.
The only reason for the use of the pills is purely for aiding menstural irregularities, it should not be a license for something else.
