Adding subtitles on the downloaded videos

Recently i have downloaded some videos from internet. But almos haven't subtitles yet. Then i search it on internet and found my subtitles. But it can't be viewed in the movies. Is it depending from the video player? Or what? Thanks for your information

Subtitle file and video file must have the same name. For example if your video named "my_video.avi" then the subtitle should be "my_video.srt". Oh yeah, as far as I know, only AVI (DivX) extension supports subtitle. The video player? I use Windows Media Player and GOM player and also Media Player Classic. All work fine with subtitle files. Thanks a lot for your important information. Oo, .ya. .so if they have not same name , i must rename the subtitles to be same with the movie's file name. Isn't it?

Yep, you are correct. Also there are options to have many subtitles in many languages by adding identifier after file name. So it have to be "my_video.en.srt" or "my_video.id.srt". Don't know exactly since I never use another subtitle than English :p
