Ok, I am basically a single mother (husband don't live with us, work, etc.) with a six year old son. I am almost finished with my Medical Assisting degree, will be doing labs and clinicals next semester (Jan) and one night class. I have been looking into all the hospitals, doctors offices, nursing homes, medical clinics to no avail. I will get some "we regret to inform you" letters in the mail. yes, I will only be only to work Part time, but as long as I am getting the experience and making income to support my family, I would be happy.
I have also been working with my local WorkOne office to take CNA classes and they keep telling me that they have rebudgeted, don't have enough in their budget, basically getting turned away.
I don't want to give up my degree to go into full time work, its taking me almost 13 years to get this far and then I had to be put on a waiting list for these classes and finally got into them!!
This is so frustrating, especially when I know some who have less classes than me and get into positions.
I have even went to other fields, clerical, preschool assistant, cooks, etc.

I hope you won't give up. Things are bad and are going to get worse. I know that doesn't help but you are not alone. Have you applied for job hunting assistance from your state? Finish your schooling because eventually things WILL get better and you will be in a great position for a good job.
How about some volunteer work? That often turns into gainful employment.
