College text books are soooo expensive! I took four courses this semester (it was my first year in college- at a community college), which meant buying four text books. All together it was $400! Now its the end of the semester, and "book buy back" is at the campus book store next week. I've been told that its total rip off and I won't even get 1/4 of what I paid back. D: One of my teachers recommended selling them online. The thing I'm afraid of with that is if I list it online, and it doesn't sell, I might miss the book buy back and not get money for my books at all. w

Most campuses offer book rentals these days. It is less expensive than purchasing and you know they will take them back! You won't get any money back in return but you won't have to pay out quite as much. There are times you can borrow books too.

Yeah, I thought about that but my school doesn't offer rentals, plus the library doesn't have copies of the text books I needed. Now that I already have them, I'm trying to find the best way to get money back for them. :/

I know! I hardly used my English book either, and it was like $90! I wish the teacher would let the students know how much we'll need the text book before the class starts... :/

Yes, college books are so expensive that it feels like a scam. Some of my professors try to help out and let the students use the older versions which is much cheaper. Maybe you can ask your professors if that is allowed. For one of my textbooks, the new version was eighty dollars and I bought an older version for twenty dollars and got through the course alright (the bookstore wouldn't take it back though) Buying textbooks is always a stressful time for most students but there are some ways to get around being ripped off.

keep your books for future reference, it will be more valuable then selling them and getting next to nothing.
