It just crossed my mind. for i am sure that lots of us here will be celebrating their birthdays next month or next year right after christmas. and so i was wondering what kind of things you do to celebrate your birthday. do you cook food at home, or do you eat outside. do you celebrate with your loved ones or friends. i would like to celebrate my birthday next year. but i don't know how i will celebrate it.
i want it to be different and unique. and so i want to celebrate it differently. i may prepare instead of the usual spaghetti and meats and etc. i may just prepare vegetables, not salad, just cooked vegetables. no fats whatsoever, so it will surely be a totally kind of birthday with only vegetables on the table.

It depends, I live very far from my family so since I have moved birthdays are not that great. I used to always go out and pary have a good time dinner then drinks at a culb or a party sometimes I would go out of town just always something really fun. Now that I have moved off on my own my Boyfriend usually forgets that it is my birthday and we end up fighting all day or this year he finally remebered and all he did was take me to dinner just the 2 of us and it was such a bore I always get him tickets to a concert or one year we saw comedian Wanda Sykes one year I got him a stereo for his car. My birthday is before his so now I just think of what he did for me and I do something comparable for him but this year is my 30th birthday and if he does not do anything special it is not going to be pretty.

hi hotsummer^^;;
i had done also the things you mentioned like cooking at home and having meal with family and friends, if not dining outside was also good as we wouldn't have to take care of the cleaning up as well. maybe next year, i will celebrate my birthday with my hubby in his country and go to the highest tower where they also have restaurant on top of the tower and we can view the whole city because the tower deck rotates at 360degrees in 48minutes. i hope i can do this as it will be very different from before

wicked? LoL
nah! i heard it rotates but i heard you don't feel it ofcourse so you won't get dizzy you will just notice that you are overlooking at another part after 15 or 20minutes while just sitting or standing at one place..i heard it's very wide because there are also some souvenir shops and several restaurants to choose from, not only one. this is located in Seoul, South Korea. i also hope we can really do this

Hi, there.
Yesterday was my Birthday and it was my first time to celebrate without any food on our table. It was totally a normal day for us. Before that day i was planning to go to the beach alone, stay at the Island for the entire day but i know my partner will dislike it. So, what i did, i went out before dinner, meet a friend, stay in the coffee shop for a couple of minutes and then decided to fetch my school age brother to have dinner at the resort and unwind. I celebrated my day simply but ialways wanted to celebrate it alone.

oh,that will be really different spending it alone. but i guess you always have been a busy person and so celebrating alone is something you would want to do to have time to relax away from the crowd and noise.

oh, i have been there and done that. and i had to much of reflections done in my life. like i grew up looking for the purpose of my life. and so now that i have much knowledge of it and know what is the purpose of my life, that i feel that i need to have some good break and relax and have fun and do go out with groups or friends which i had not done in my early or teen life. and now i am old how i wished that i had those things. but i don't regret that i searched out for the real meaning of life. its just that i realize i can still enjoy life while looking or searching for real purpose of life. but mine is different case as life seems to be harsh in me. that i didn't enjoy life no matter i know what will make me happy. it is just that good friends are really hard to find. anyways, life is of course with a purpose. hope you will realize what is your purpose. just don't look too far. the answer may be there all along.

No. I'm not a busy person and I don't have a job to occupy my entire day. Yesterday was not normal day for me to spend my birthday. I used to have those party or dine out with my family. I want to be alone on that day because i want to think deeply, know the purpose of my life and etc. Still searching for something and that something is still invisible to my eyes.

Sure, I'd like to celebrate my birthday with my friends. My culinary skills is not good, or, say, horrible. So I would like eat outside and go to karaoke. I'm not willing to cook myself if it's my birthday but I will think it over if my love invite me to cook with her.

birthday celebrations in my family happens to be a very private affair.we prepare the favourite food of the member whose birthday is being celebrated. for me mom always prepares "kheer"-a sweet dish..that is to be included in the menu along with other delicacies

I don't like any birthday party. What I want for my birthday celebration is with my loved ones. I would like a normal birthday with a small slice of cake. And then I would like to have dinner with my beloved girl friend. I don't hope for any birthday present, but I wish the people around me and I could live happy and healthy. Simple and ordinary birthday celebration is my desired birthday. Have a nice day.

I usually don't have any plans to celebrate my birthday. When I was at home, my parents used to celebrate it by waking me up early morning to send me to church to thank god for his blessings and mercy. My father used to get cookies to distribute to my family and my uncle's house nearby. My mother used to make 'payasam', a special dish which is made only on birthdays and distrubite it to uncle's family nearby.
When I was in college, my friends gang used to give me a small gift and I used to give a small treat to them. When I started working, my colleagues cut cake and gave me small gifts and the girls with whom I used to stay cut gave me small gifts. Now, I am married and the next birthday is going to be the first birthday after marriage.

I don't celebrate my birthday really. George and I will have something special but other then that, its another day and a reminder that I have to change my age on applications when it comes time if its not automatically done for me. It's not like when I was a kid and a party was thrown. Though my parents really suprised me for my 16th. Mom nearly scared me with that one. And, no I didn't get a licance or a car. I'm blind so no need for those things. But it was memorable enough.

I always spend it with my family, they usually take me out to a nice restaurant and we have a really awesome time. Like this year their taking me out for French cuisine at this amazing restaurant I can't wait, and their probably going to buy me a lot of drinks since it's my 19th birthday! We usually have a cake at home, and just spend time together. Then my friends take me out and we party like crazy, we get all dressed up and just have a great time taking a ton of pictures and getting hammered! I love it. :)

for the past 3 years(consecutively). I just celebrate my birthday hanging out with a small circle of friends and with my girlfriend. I want every person close to my heart present before my very eyes during my birthday. I did remember a birthday of mine when I was like 9 or 10 years old, I was alone and no ones home. I just dont want that to happen again, never.

Hi, hotsummer.
In China, we always celebrate with our birthday with family by cook a good meal together and eat the birthday cake and noodles which we called longevity noodle.
But as I am work far from my hometown, almost of the birthday i spend with my best friend. We eat togther and go for KTV of barbecue for celebration. Very interesting in my mind. accturally it is a way for friends in different place to get together on a special day.
