My grand daughter took her coloring book and a bag of crayons with her when we carried her Great Grandmother to the doctor the other day. She colored for a while and theng grew tired of it. I started coloring in it and I actually felt better. I don't know what the other patients thought, they were older people, but I didn't care. I was coloring a beautiful pictures. Do you color in you child's coloring book?

It's really sweet of you to have helped your grand daughter coloring her books =)... I also love doing it with my younger cousins.. it really felt good holding those cute little crayons... I have an 11-month old son and when he gets older, old enough to hold a pen or crayon, i will definitely seat with him for hours...

Hi, there. I don't have my own child but i do interrupted and join my niece and my brother while coloring in their book. I love it and it's enjoyable and at the same time our bonding moment. Coloring is also a therapy to relaxes our mind and muscles, that's why you felt relaxed when you do it. Physician's advise it to the people who are stressed. When we had a duty in psychiatric ward we also conducted art therapy to the patients and often we join them on the said activity.

Hi SBjane..I think thats great..If you find relaxation and enjoyment from it who cares what anybody thinks..I used to enjoy coloring so much when I was a child. It brings back wonderful memories of my Grandmother whom I used to spend weekends with or sleepovers whenever there was no school. I loved her so much and she was the one that always bought me my coloring books. I must say that if I had one in front of me now, I would definately pick up a crayon or two and have some fun. Thanks for bringing back some tender memories for me, especially at this time of year when I miss her so very much..Merry Christmas to you and yours and happy coloring!!

Thank you for your response. My Mother is the one that taught me to use crayons. She can color in a coloring book beautifully. I am not that good. Have a great week.

I do sometimes I quiet enjoy it too. It can take your mind of things around you for a while... I think it is great that even as we age we can still find time to do a childhood activity and find it enjoyable. Don't be ashamed, If I saw you, it would make me smile and I would be wanting to color in too I think it's sweet.

What a cute little story. Most people would worry about what others thought of them and simply not color in it, but you did and it made you feel better. Good for you! I actually buy coloring books to color in them. As an artist who draws and colors her own drawings, I find coloring in coloring books to be a good way to practice with colors and blending. It's also a lot of fun once in awhile to color someone else's drawings rather than my own. And I also get to make pictures come alive that have characters and/or landscapes that I honestly don't like to draw. I draw a lot of animal portraits, so filling in a dinosaur landscape right before the big asteroid came and made them extinct can be a lot of fun for a change.

No, I don't. In fact, even if it might please children if they like to colour, I feel no satisfaction in coloring and I tend to find it boring and a waste of time. I think coloring is more of a girl thing, because even as a young boy, I never stayed coloring a picture as I didn't find it entertaining like most people would, especially young girls in my opinion. If it counts, I normally like to paint my own pictures that I myself drew, I just find children's coloring books boring and a waste of time.
