men or women?

Well, for starters, both men and women are capable to comfort anyone... Honestly though, I think women are more likely to comfort someone. For women its more natural to put their arm around someone in tears, and can find the right words to say that eases us better than men can. Men, they can help by making you laugh, but we all know that sometimes that doesn't always work. I have noticed that when someone is needing a shoulder to cry on men wont have anything to say, or they will try to be funny when it was the wrong time. It all depends on the man and woman.. sometimes women don't know what to stay or do, and sometimes they end up trying to be funny too. I hope this helps you a little bit.. Bottom line.. it doesn't matter if its man, or woman.. as long as they are willing to help someone in that kind situation, and doing their best to cheer them up.. :)

i always thought that women were, but let me tell you. i just wish i could have dr. drew at my bedside when i sleep sometimes. his voice alone could just rock my sprit in state of comfort. i wish he was my therapist. he has such a way of making someone feel like everything is going to be okay, and that life is doable. lucky are the people who has the opportunity to bennefit from someone like that. that's a skill you just can't pick up in med school. so, it depends on the person. his nurses on celeb rehab though are mostly women and they suck. i could see how they push people's buttons. sometimes women have a habit of doing that.

Well, I think in general, women are better at comforting people than men. By nature, women are more emotional as compared to men. So I think when it comes to problems and matters related to these, by nature women can provide a better understanding and better view of the situation. I am not saying that men cannot do such but I just think women have the edge on this matter.

I think it depends on the type of person you are. If you are emotional then you would look for a person who can best provide you with emotional support - man/woman. However, if you are controlled then you would look for a person who can be practical about the matter and comfort you with various solutions you can opt from (again it could be a man/woman).
