Yes of course. Anti-virus software protects your laptop from malwares, worms and trojan viruses. Some anti virus are free like avast, avg and avira personal. Nod32 is also one of the best but it is a proprietary software so you need to have license to use this. Search the web for some other free anti virus. Godbless

yes, go for avg. its free and best. www.avg.com . and yes you raelly need a antivirus. its not safe to surf internet without internet. usb pendrive is one of the root cause of vviruses. if u do not share data with outside world and doesnt use internet, u dont need a antivirus.and i am sure u have pc for both this work, so u surely need a antivirus.

hi dear, As internet has became a main medium for communication and earning oppurtunities i hope you cannt stop using internet. If you use internet then you are risk of being attack of virus. I hope you understand what i want to say anti virus software is used to protect you laptop from these attacks. But instead of anti virus i suggest you to use complete internet security which is needed now-a-days. There are some free antivirus software which can be downloaded but i cannt give u feedback on them as i havent used them. But if you dont want to take any chance and want to purchase software which can be expensive go for Macfee or kaspersky is much cheaper then that go for that.

Yes, it's vitally important that you have some kind of antivirus product on your system. There's a free version that's quite good and I used to use it myself and it's called AVG free antivirus. Now I use Norton 360 which I have to pay for and renew on a yearly basis but it's well worth it. It does absolutely everything and I've had no problems or issues with it. I would recommend you use that but if you don't want to pay for an antivirus then you should at least go for the free AVG antivirus. Good luck. Andrew

You need antivirus on your laptop if not viruses can destroy your computer. You have to buy it although they are free ones like AVG but I think the one you buy is better than free ones.

In addition to what the others have said, you could consider trying one of the Linux distributions as an alternative to your current operating system. When using linux there will be no need for anti-virus software. Conversion to linux may be heavily dependent on what you use laptop for. When I say this I mean that there may be software that you use on a regular basis that may not be compatible with a linux operating system. This issue aside, I would recommend conversion to the linux distribution Ubuntu. However as stated on the page at: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Antivirus there may be genuine reasons as to why one may opt to have a virus scanner together with Ubuntu.

I agree with the others, you definitely need an antivirus program. At one time you might have got away without one, but no more. The internet is a dangerous place if you're not protected. It's not a matter of if you'll get a virus without one, it's a matter of when, and that "when" could come quickly. There are a few free ones, but I think the best ones are the ones you pay for. I like Computer Associates, but there are others that are good.

Most anti-virous programs only offer free trils to get people interested in the product. However, if you have time on your hands you can find free anti-virous programs with no strings attached. Though they aren't as highly recomended because to off-set the cost they often offer less protection then those you have to pay for it. While the computer often doesn't come with anti-virous, it is recomended that you download one. However, if you want see how your computer performs without it. It can always be downloaded and installed at anytime.
