I haven't done any Christmas shopping at all, so don't feel too bad. I've been wrapped up in school and I don't have much money anyway. My church is doing something called Advent Conspiracy, and we're being challenged to buy less and give more. In other words, to take the materialism out of Christmas and focus more on what the season's really all about. I think instead of buying my sister something, I'll write her a short story. She'd probably like that more than some crazy last-minute gift I bought off Amazon.

thats actually a really good idea, i really dont like how commercialised christmas has become. the kids i have to buy for are quite spoilt for their ages so i feel obligated to get them good gifts, but my own son is 11 months and in years to come i want to explain to him that christmas is Jesus's birthday and i dont want him to turn round and ask well why is everyone getting presents or something like that, you know what i mean, its like an Xbox generation, when people ask me what i want i genuinely say, im good as i am. that sounds nice that you're writing her a story :)

I know exactly what you mean. We buy way too much stuff. It's nice to get gifts, but that's not what the season's about.
