I was awakened tonight with a bad bad dream. I am really afraid to sleep, yesterday I felt the same and I tried sleeping only to be half-choked by a nightmare. This really gives me the creeps, now I can't do anything but try to keep myself awake. What do you do when you have bad dreams? Dreams that are really threatening and seems real. How do you handle them?

Hi, laydee. I have had many dreams that seem so real. And when I wake up out of my deep sleep, I find that this dream was fake. What I will do is, try to sit up and think about the dream. I know that I will be scared. I will also do some research on this dream to see what the interpretation of it can mean. I will also ask myself why did I have this kind of dream and what triggered it? I would ask others what the dream could have meant to. I don't like scary dreams, I have had plenty of them and they are no fun. They will leave you with a bad feeling, like what you dream about is going to actually happen. When I dream a bad dream I would be so scared to go back to sleep. I am thinking that I will have another bad dream. I just would not want to dream anymore.

I actually pray every night. But there are just those nights when I can't help but get scary and bad dreams. I do pray in order to go back to sleep and hope that those things don't happen. Anyhow, I have noticed that I do get scary dreams whenever I sleep early (around 9pm) therefore, starting tonight I'll sleep a little later. This also occurs when I'm idle, whew! I guess my mind is too wild and can't contain being idle for a few weeks. Thanks for the response. Have a great MyLot experience ahead!

Hello ladyee. I don't take it seriously. I think that it doesn't mean anything, but a dream, whether good or bad. Take it easy, ladyee.

I know we should take it easy, but there are just dreams that are so real that we're glad when we wake up out of it. But it sure is stressful when one thinks- what if? Thanks for the response. Sorry for the delayed reply. Have a great MyLot experience ahead!

You know, my friend. I don't believe on what the interpretation of dreams whether it is bad or good dreams. I believe that dreams is only a sort of tight sleep and there is no other bad or good affection in our life...

But still, we can't help but try to figure out why there are dreams right? Further, there are dreams that coincide with present situations as well. I don't think that it's just about our sleep, perhaps there's something about the subconscious playing. Anyhow, I have noticed that this sorts of things happen whenever I'm idle and when I sleep early (around 9pm). So, I have decided to sleep a little bit later tonight and try to be tired by doing something productive for the day. Thank you very much for the response and the thoughts. Have a great MyLot experience ahead!

I know they're not real, I do try to tell myself that often. However, as I mentioned in my other responses to other people's discussion, I noticed that scary dreams come when I sleep early and when I'm idle for the day. I think I should just sleep a little bit later and be more productive next time. Further, I do help myself go back to sleep by praying. But oh, some are just so real. But yeah, they're not real - they're just dreams. Thanks for the response. Have a great MyLot experience ahead!

Sometimes I have experienced such nightmares that I have awoken crying. I have also not been able to shake the dream. I couldnt get it from my mind. They say that what you dream isnt necessarily what will happen. I wouldnt let it get to you. Sometimes if you eat certain things before bed that will give you bad dreams. It may just be you had a bad day. Relax and sleep well my friend I am sure it is nothing. Sweet dreams. dl

I think it's a nice idea to watch funny movies or do something instead of trying to sleep once again.

Hi laydee Im so sorry that you keep having these dreams like that. I know I have heard that sometimes it has something to do with your eating habits. I know what you are thinking right now and so did I...That is Crazy..Well honey you might check into that. Trying changing around the kind of food that you normally eat before bedtime. On the nights that you have a bad dream, ask your self why such a dream and why would you dream that, and tell yourself that it was just a dream. Repeat that over and over until you fall asleep. You know those affirmations. Try it girl.. Keep smiling.

Hi, understanding dreams is difficult because they tell us what will happen or we can dream about what we think about, our fears and all that. Dreams are controlled by the spiritual realm and evil spirits can influence our dreams to scare us. When I have bad dreams, I pray and try to calm down and clea my mind because when you are afraid, you are more likely to have fearful dreams

The first thing I do before I sleep is pray. That is one of my best defenses. I also have been frequented with bad dreams. I even see ghosts in my sleep. The next defense is to wrap a rosary around my hands. Miraculously, I never get a single bad dream since I did that. There was one incident where I didn't realize that I forgot having the rosary wrapped. Then, the bad dreams came once again. The power of God is stronger than any negative energy in he world. :)

Whenever I have a bad dream, I pray hard until I calm down. Then, I conjure happy thoughts in my mind so that I will forget about my bad dream or nightmare.

Let me narrate how got rid of a nasty, scary, and overwhelming nightmare. There was a time in the past when i was repeated and frequently haunted by a typical dream where I am in a strange scary building with moving pillars. The pillar nearest to me would begin to fall on me and crush me... and at this moment, I would wake up totally terrified, unable to sleep again that night for fear of this dream. It went on for several nights and I really got worried. I would be constantly feeling sleepy but the thought of sleeping would scare. I read through all the available material on dreams. But, no use. I did not want to go to some psychiatrist for fear of looking silly. Then I began reasoning myself -- a dream is just a dream, it is not at all real. So, all my fear is not real. Can some pillar seen in my dream have the potency to kill me? This line of thinking lead me to finally conclude that the imaginary pillar of the dream can not kill. Well, I felt kind of relieved with this conclusion. But what to do because the feeling of terror and helplessness was very real. I decided to put a fight in the dream. But "How to fight the falling pillar"? After much thinking I came up with my "great idea". The idea was: I would let the pillar(s) fall on me feeling the fear as long as I could; and as a final defense against crushing I would open my eyes. Because when I open my eyes the dream, and hence its pillars, would have to vanish; they only exist in my sleep. And, I actually did as I planned... I did open my eyes as a last defense. But something got totally changed -- I was not that much scared and remained in control. That dream never visited me again since then. It is several years now. I think it was standing up to the enemy with full conscious awareness that worked. Wish, you find something that works for you.

thats a very scary feeling. i hate when i have nightmares like that. i will usually txt a friend to keep my mind off the dream. Go get someone to sleep with me so i dont feel so scared.Sometimes i pray, it makes me feel secure. And if none of those work i just have to talk myself into staying calm and breath and try to relax until i can fall back asleep (usually with the light on).

I haven't had any in a while, I've had some strange dreams lately because I'm going through some stuff but nothing scary. I guess its best to write them down and keep a record of them.

It's been a while since the last time I had a nightmare as bad as the one you had. However, when I was in a deep depression I had horrible nightmares everynight. At first I would turn on the lights as being in the darkness is even more scary, and maybe watch tv or do something to distract me. Usually after a while watching tv or using the computer I would get super sleepy and be able to go back to bed as my mind got able to think in something different.

Usually, I wake up facing the ceiling whenever I get bad dreams. When this happens I would pray to God for me to have a good night sleep and then I just turn around on my left side facing the wall, I then close my eyes and pray again till I fall asleep. Changing your sleeping position helps in not having bad dreams again for me. And prayer, the most powerful one.
