Our town did that last weekend. They called it a hometown holiday. The church had breakfast with santa, there were sleigh rides. All of the businesses had hot chocolate and candy canes for free. The parents group at school organized a craft project for the little kids. The art school students were there for face painting.
It was alot of fun and at the end of the day, I think everyone was left with a real sense of community and christsmas cheer.

Wow that sounds like so much fun for the kids. Today I took my kids to the Breakfast with santa in our town. We go every year its so nice. You can get juice, coffee or hot cocoa. Then you can choose from sausage, eggs and pancakes or you can have all of them. None of us at our table like sausage so we all just had eggs and pancakes lol. They had cookies you could eat. You got to sit on santas lap and they would take your picture. I took my camera along as well so I could have a picture with my camera. Each kid got to have a candy cane. They had this big table set up with tons of different little dollar store items and each kid was allowed to pick out one thing. My daughter got a really cute little barbie bracelet set that had lipgloss in it. My son got a monster truck. The first thing he picked up was a girl necklace set lol then I was like oh look a truck. He threw the necklace down and grabbed the truck and wanted it opened right there.
