what kind of sick person are you, I know that sounds crazy but let's assume you are sick, and money or time is not a problem, you can get medical care if you want it.
are you the time of person who would run to the doctor or the hospital any time the least little thing is wrong
or
are you the time of person who would wait it out a few days to see if it would go away and if not go to the doctor or the hospital
or
are you the time of person who waits so long it gets really bad before you go to the doctor or the hospital
or
are you the time of person that refuses to go to the doctor or the hospital unless you are taken out by ambulance
answer which type you are and why for best response

I usually wait a few days to see if it will go away on its own. It depends on what's wrong. If I'm throwing up and running a fever, I'll probably just stay home and try to take good care of myself. If I just broke out in a body-wide rash and I don't know why, I'll probably go to the doctor because I don't know how to deal with that.

I am at doctors, hospitals for labwork, and specialist enough with my chronic disabilities so I tend to stay away from doctors office unless it is a emergency or something that will not go away after a couple days or 3 of home remedies.

Because of what happened to both of my parents I believe that if I go to the hospital, I'm not coming back. I don't trust doctors. So I will just remain at home and if the illness is to kill me at least I'll be in my own bed!

Hello there Rose. For me, I might wait sometime before I go to the doctor. I would wait awhile, and when things are back on track, I will continue with what I'm doing. But if ever I feel feverish and stuff like that, I would definitely decide to go to the doctor. For me, as long as there are painkillers at home, I won't go to the doctor first, unless something bad happens like totally feeling feverish and stuff like that would I decide to go.

Ok now thats really interesting what sort of sick am I . I have all of them little in me. First of all I dont go to Doctor and wait for it to go away natually. If its not I will wait to see how bad can it turn into. If its really bad only then i go. Besides it, I go to a herbal or homeopathic doctor. I belive they are curable then anything else. For me surgery is not the answer.

I really, really try to avoid going to the doctor. I will wait it out; if my symptoms become really severe or they just won't go away, then I'll break down and go. I try to pay attention to preventative measures and listen to my body, and I rely on natural medicine for the most part.
My lungs are my weak spot, because I have asthma, so respiratory infections can be pretty rough for me. When I feel sickness settling in my chest, I head to the doctor, because I know I'll need medication, sometimes x-rays. I still don't completely trust the doctors though, because they don't always know our bodies as well as we do. A couple of years ago, I had to get a friend to rush me to the ER on the verge of passing out because I couldn't breathe. When I eventually saw a doctor, she treated me for asthma and sent me home, though I'd told her I suspected the flu and had the right symptoms. Half an hour after I got home, my friend had to call an ambulance because I was slipping out of conciousness. Though we told the next doctor about my flu-like symptoms, he waited 9 hours to test me for it, while they carted me all over the hospital for x-rays, etc, spreading the virus throughout the building. (Once they diagnosed me, I was quarantined and everyone coming in was supposed to wear masks and gloves - though the nurses rarely did, nor did they use the hand sanitizer on the way out.) Incidentally, during my 4 day stay, the hospital had a TB outbreak, due to their unsanitary practices, so all patients had to be tested.
The area where I live is known for having a terrible health care system, so maybe if I lived somewhere else with better doctors and hospitals I would have more trust in traditional health care and be more likely to go.

Well I am always being told of for leaving it so long to call the Nurses out when I get bad but I still leave it a few Days before I do as it can happen quite a lot that I just have a bad Day with this but I have to be honest sometimes I wait to long and leave it till it is unbearable and get told of
I don't think I would ever run to the Doctors for every bit, as you know here it is free and before my Illness I hardly ever saw a Doctor actually only during both the Pregnancies, when I had Pneumonia and when I had to get my Meds when the Chronic Bronchitias attacks happened and even then I would rarely go

I wait till the very last and I cant stand the pain one more min.
was like that when They said I had a heart attck passed out at urgent care and took to the hospital in the ambulance.
I dont like DOctors one bit and now with haveing ti have a primary Doc. that does nothing but do referals or order blood work and call in perscription seems like thats all he is good for.
Wouldnt care if I had all the money in the world I would still try to treat myself as I have always done!

I suppose I'm the type who waits it out, to see how things develop, before contacting the doctor.

I never ever go to the doctors unless I know it is something that I cannot fix myself at home. I always know in my gut when I am ill with something or there is something wrong that only the doctor can deal with and that is when I go which luckily is not very often. It is the same with my children, I only take them when I am beyond being able to fix their illnesses with home remedies.

For myself I am the kind of person who will usually wait a couple of days to see if I can get over it on my own. When it comes to my children I will usually only wait about a day and then I am making an appointment to see the doctor. My husband is the type that goes to the doctor right away. I don't think it is a good idea to not go to the doctor when you are sick if you are still sick after a few days.

I do have a phsical problem and I get sick of going to doctors and them doing the same tests over and over and never finding anything. So I can say with some assurance that I am the type of person that goes to the doctor when it is necessary. Everything that happens to me I think maybe it's a side effect of my other problem and sometimes I will seek medical help. Usually I don't go to the doctor until it's bad, but I don't wait till I need an ambulance. I have lost a lot of faith in doctors. There are some things that are wrong where doctors are the only answer.

I hate doctors, and I would only go because in my ex-job we needed to bring a paper signed by the doctor if we fell sick in order to be payed that day, so I'm the type of person who unless has to be carried by an ambulance woud refuse with all her might to go.

Aah, I know. I just have had too many bad experiences with doctors, but I shouldn't be threatening my body because of that, isn't it?
I think I'll reconsider.

Wonderful discussion winterose. I am a person who wait for a reasonable time to get cured by natural remedies. When I feel I cannot bear the sickness anymore and it is going to aggravate, then I will go to the proper doctor, general physician if it is not a big problem, specialist if the problem is severe. I do not want to give problem, as far as possible to others. Hence seeking medical help at this stage is essential.

I pretty much have to be dragged kicking and screaming to the doctor. It is a very rare ocaision that I go on my own. I have to be pretty bad off before that happens. As for my nature when I am sick, well, I'm cranky, miserable and just plain not fun to be around, but....that is negated by the fact that I just like to be left alone when I am sick, just leave me to my own devices, let me sleep, don't fuss over me and we'll get along just fine, lol.

Hi winterose, I admit I have already a sickness that I've been taking care of. I am a type of person that would wait for the worst before going really to the doctor it is because I don't have lots of money for my doctor should I like to see for it. I don't like ambulance if it can be avoided. I hate even the sound of the sirens. honestly if I would have just a lots of money I want to visit my doctor regularly....
Thanks...mobhomier...

The moment I have symptoms I will first try and take care of them myself as I have some knowledge of homoeopathy and have a few medicines with me. I would perhaps avoid eating something which I know would have upset me, or go for some home medicines - In other words I will treat myself but if the symptoms do not disappear I will give a call to my family doctor who knows me in and out and he will prescribe something over the phone which normally takes care of my symtpoms. I will sometimes on my own go for some pathological tests too.. If after all this I still find I am not upto the mark then I will go for a thorough check up. I will never delay and try to nip it in the bud
