the discovery of Fire perhaps? or maybe the invention of the wheel? or maybe the telephone or electricity? I can't really say for sure, because I don't really know when sliced bread came along, but sliced bread was surely a very good thing. I can't imagine having to bake bread here at home every few days...

I usually bought the sandwich type of bread and no need for me to slice it. As your question asked for the best thing before slice the bread my first answer is to prepare black coffee. Secondly, dunk the bread into my fave black coffee, also no need to slice.
