Xmas gifts: are you an "unconscious saver"?

It's time to start (or maybe someone has started already) considering Christmas gifts for the ones we love. I read a survey on a newspaper that states: "Due to this year's crisys, the expences for gift will be much lower than for last Christmas". The interesting thing about the article was that the research showed that most of the savings are not made on purpose, but they are unconsciously affected by the general economical situation. Looking at my plans for the gifts, I have to reckon that this is kind of true. This year I decided to home-make most of the presents to make them more personal and be creative, but I actually never considered it as a possible unconscious "side effect" of the crisys. So I may really be an unconscious saver. What about you? Do you think you are an unconscious saver too?

Homemade gifts are a great idea. Last Christmas, I made dozens of cookies to give to my friends and family and everyone was happy with them. This year I was too busy to make anything so I spent a little bit of money on gifts but I was careful with using my money. I think the "crisy" impacts everyone and it shows during the holidays but its still Christmas and we should still enjoy the holidays no matter what. Merry Christmas.

I found out that I'm keen on homemade gifts too. I think people is happy about them because you feel that the one who gives them put some "passion" in making them. On the other hand, you are right, time is what matters when it comes to home-making things. I am personally happy I found some this year. You may be right about the crisys impact, we should switch it off at least during the holidays. My concerne is: are we capable to do so? ps. Merry Christmas to you too!

I like to think that I am. I know that I'm a very pratical person when it comes to giving gifts. Though I don't have any relitives to shop for. I don't even have enough money for a card. Good thing George and I bought a stack of them some time ago. That was sure a lifesaver for this year. Though a card is as far as we go. So I guess you could say that. Besides isn't it the "thought" that counts?

Indeed it is! You have been smart enough to think about Christmas cards way before to catch a good offer, I guess! I'd say that this for sure makes you a saver. I also like the fact you are a practical person about gifts: useful, smart and simple gifts... that's the way.
