Do You Constantly Change Pics On Your Desktop Or Do You Keep The Same One?

Currently, I have a rather nice pic of a Snow Leopard on my desktop with beautiful, intense blue eyes. To be honest, I cannot remember where I got it from but I never go on "dodgy" sites, if you see what I mean.
I do change my desktop. Sometimes I will have a personal photograph on there, whether it be on of me and hubby on our wedding day, another animal pic or a countryside photo that I have taken myself.
Unfortunately, when my computer was sorted out recently, my photographs were deleted, which was expected because I told the guy fixing it that there was nothing that I wanted saving, specifically. My wedding photos are in my head, my heart and in a book so I don't worry about those.
At least it gives me the excuse to start again with my camera and get out and about taking more pics.

On my old computer I used to change the desktop all the time. When I got my own lap-top, I immediately picked a nice Jim Warren painting of a mermaid and a unicorn. I've changed the picture once, but I didn't like it so I changed it back. It's been the mermaid and the unicorn since I got this lap-top two years ago.

Wow, that sounds lovely! I really like unicorns. They are quite mystical aren't they? Mermaids too. One of my favourite creatures are seahorses, so cute!

I love unicorns too. A bit worse than that, actually. I'm kind of obsessed with them. Mermaids would be my second favorite mythical creature.
I agree. Sea horses are cute.

I take it you're into all this mystical stuff? Nothing wrong with that. I believe in fairies at the bottom of the garden, elves, that kinda thing. I used to be REALLY into Astrology a few years back, constructing Birth Charts for my friends manually. It's all done my computer nowadays which takes all the work out of it. It was time-consuming though, doing a manual version which is probably why I don't do them anymore!

I still think I will change the current photo to something new sometime in the near future, it will be my gf or me and my gf on it.

It's lovely that you have a pic of yourself and gf on your desktop. I did have one of me and John on our wedding day but I keep changing it. Still have the Snow Leopard though...which is appropriate due to all the er..snow in the UK at present. None here as yet in Cumbria, which is a shame.

Hi Janey and welcome to my lot. I have windows XP wall paper changer and it changes the pictures on our desktops about every couple of days. They are pictures we have taken and some days it is just the windows pictures. It is always nice to see what will be on here the next day. Sorry you lost your wedding pictures. I hate to lose pictures I had taken. I usually keep a blank CD to back up my files. I try to remember to back my computer up daily. Good luck on your new pictures.

Hey Janey if you want that wall paper changer you can get it from windows web site it is free. We don't ever turn off our computers. One reason we are on and off them at all hours of the day and night. The other reason I had a computer I turned off and didn't turn it on for a while and everything went hay wire on me. Good that you have the Original pictures. But it is still wise to back up any and all of your important files.

It's OK about the wedding photos because we do have originals that the photographer took, plus a really nice book that we can look at whenever we want to but thanks for your concern, that's sweet of you.
I like the idea of your Windows pic changing daily. It will be a surprise each time you switch your computer on. Yes, I really should have a back-up CD shouldn't I? When I have a build-up of photos on here I shall do what you suggest, so thanks for reminding me about that.

I like to change my desktop pictures a lot. Sometimes I will have pictures of my puppy or cat on my desktop. Other times I will have pictures of my friends and me, having a great time. When my family takes a nice photo I like to put it as that. When I get a picture of nice scenery or landcape I will have it as that. I like to change it up quite a bit. It's nice to have the picture as some good memory because it reminds you of the good times, and inspires happiness. It also reminds you, you have lots of people that love you in your life.

Awwwe! Yeah I love having pictures of my pets on my desktop, especially my cat since he is really evil looking. There is this one of picture of my brother holding him and his demon eyes are all lit up from flash and his mouth is yawning with his teeth bared and it looks like he is about to eat my brothers face. It's priceless.

What a sweet response, thank you! It's good to mix the pics up now and again isn't it? I would have a pic of my FloJo the cat on my desktop but she isn't that photogenic, unfortunately, although very cute in real life! :-)

I'm more of a practical type, of course I'll use a picture that I like,
But I'll also look for something that won't tire my eyes,
and that allows me to browse happily among my desktop items.
There are certain pics wich are beautiful, but are bad choice for desktop.
At least for me. And changing the wallpaper comes with the mood,
I can let it be for several months, or I may change 100 in 2 hours
while looking for a better pic.
I also know some that use webshots and similar free programs
wich randomly change your wallpaper, and are quite happy about it.

Thanks for bringing the subject up of what works on a PC and what doesn't. You are quite right. If there are lots of icons on your desktop the last thing you want is not being able to see them!

Hi there,
Leopard's cool!
I don't constantly change the picture of my desktop. And I think the pic of my desktop is also cool. Do you want to know what's it? The color of my pic is full of black, just only one color. I think it's good for my eyes when I switch to the desktop LOL

Wow, I've never heard that before, a pic "full of black" as you put it. I've head of a pic "full of blue" which seems to be a Windows colour but good for you that you have black, that's excellent!

I do always as I love variety and never like to have the same desktop pictures to remain in the screen as it comes as monotonous. Lacking changes does not evoke alertness and having the same pictures is kinda boring. Then, have to change the background every three days with variety of preferences ranging from natures flora and faunas, people, abstract and assorted stuffs.

I change my desktop several times a year. I usually have photos that I have taken of flowers, nice sunsets, trees or wildlife. When I've taken a new photo that I feel I really wouldn't mind seeing all the time, I put that on there.

That is one of my pics. They are marigolds, and they are very summery. I try to change my avatar with the seasons, so I really should change this one now.

Up until two weeks ago, I've had the same wallpaper on my desktop for over two years. It was one that I made myself with photoshop and five pictures of my kiddos on my son's first Easter. However, two weeks ago we had to reinstall windows on my machine and that was the time that I decided that it was time for me to make a new wallpaper for my computer. I'm hoping to use some recent pictures of my kiddos to make a new wallpaper and then I would like to change it out once every couple of months.

Hi!
Two years is a long time for a desktop photograph so you must've liked it very much. When you upload a new one could you share it with me? I don't have children of my own so it's great to see other families' happiness as it makes me happy too. :-)

Variety gives a new mode of life in living. Talking about desktop wallpapers, of course, I change them by several days. I think there is none who keeps the same wallpaper along his life.

Hi!
There is nothing wrong with keeping the same picture on your desktop but it is interesting that we are all so different to one another. It would be so boring it we were all the same, would it not? :-0

Meh,I can't be bothered most of the time to change my background. I changed it recently from two bulldog puppies fighting to a plain white background. Just because then I didn't have to have my laptop light turned up all the way. The white colour just gave off it's own glow sorta. [:
I think I might change it again though! To a nice picture. [:

My desktop wallpaper had been on my computer for almost 3 years now. I haven't replaced or alter any part of it. Its a family picture taken three years ago. All the computer in the house had the same desktop wallpaper and I think it will be there for a long period of time.

It must be a great photo if none of you haven't got bored with it in 3 years. I suppose looking at it reminds you of what is important more than anything? Family! :-)

I don't change my desktop pic often. I usually use a picture of my cat Precious. But right now I'm using the background that came with my laptop as a defult. Because I'm still paying for it and I don't want to personalize it too much. If i have to end my contract sometime soon, then I want to be sure I don't have too much to do later on. Here it is.

Very nice too and thanks for sharing! How did you download your pic? You are wise not to download too much at the moment. My memory was getting full and a guy fixed it for me so now it's like having a new comp...and it's 8 years old now, so I'm doing ok! :-)

I change my desktop picture 4-5 times a year - my themes are always connected to the current season
Now I have a winter picture with a lot of snow on it and my roommate is begging me to put something liek a seaside picture or anything summerly ;)
However I never put photoes of people - I find it rather disturbing when people do that

Thanks for your comment. All seasons can be beautiful, can't they, in their own way. Spring is beautiful because of all the new life around us, Summer can be beautiful due to the blue sky, Autumn can be stunning when leaves start changing colour and Winter can be fabulous when it snows, as it encourages the young to play outside for a change. :-)

Hello there!
I don't know much about anime but I do know what it means. Does it originate from Japan, I dunno, like I said, unfortunately I'm a bit naive about these things.

I change my desktop photos multiple times a year, depending on what goals I am trying to achieve. For example last year I was trying to be accepted into college while in high school so I put up the college's picture up onto my desktop. Later I wanted to get a new car, I put a picture of the exact model that I wanted up. Doing this really helps when you're trying to reach goals. It provides a constant visual that you can always think of.

There is probably a word to describe what you are doing but I can't think of it at present. Something to do with visualisation, maybe someone will know what I'm rambling on about lol. It's great that the pics are goals on what you want to achieve, I like that idea. Thanks for sharing! :-)
