Cats

Most of our cats do run from the vacuum but, we have one cat that is about 5 years old that likes to sit on top of it when we vacuum. Sounds crazy I know, but she loves it. I think it may be the vibration of the thing. She was born in the house so I guess she's always been used to it.

It's the noise and the sound of the suction. To them its ten times louder then it is to us. And, you have to admit, the sound can tend to drive us, as humans up the walls. espically if you're not alone and your partner, childr, or what ever Is like trying to watch T.V. or something. Cats often think the vacume will hurt them.

I used to be able to vacuum The Doctor, he was stubborn, and if he didn't want to move, he wasn't moving! Now, I've heard of deaf cats that don't mind vacuums, so I think it must be the sound of the machine. Still, it didn't bother Doctor.

Because they're big, they make lots of noise, and they're scary. To a cat, anyway. I don't own a cat, but I can see why a cat would run away from a vacuum cleaner. When I was a kid and the vacuum was bigger than me, I was afraid of it. Naturally the cat could be scared too.

We don't have cats, but I would just like to add in this discussion that my kids also run away when they hear the vacuum. I think it's just the loud noise. Or maybe they sense that vacuuming is work and they try to avoid it. Maybe they think that if they get too familiar with it, they might inherit this as their permanent chore. Thus, they run away.
