I went to get my silver necklace cleaned at this shop recently, and was told that they have a new policy of charging $20 per piece, when previously it was free!
I was so upset, I decided not to send my necklace for cleaning and buy my own silver polish solution.
For $12 I got a huge bottle of cleaning solution and a double layer cloth too. I have cleaned at least 5 pieces so far, and it's like magic! After dipping it in, the tarnished bits just seem to disappear. After I fish it out, and wipe it with the cloth - it seems like new!
Although I've noticed that there seems to be a slight yellow sheen. Not sure if this is natural?
How do you clean your silver accessories? Do you notice any change in them like a yellow sheen?

Hi squaretile, i usually clean my silverwares with products freely available at home. And the best thing to clean silverwares is the common baking soda, firstly you dip the item to be cleaned into water and shake the excess off and then after that you dip it in baking soda powder and rub it with a clean soft cloth. The idea here is to clean it carefully and use an old toothbrush to clean the hard to reach areas and after rubbing it with the soda, finally wipe it with a clean cloth and see your silverwares gleaming! Thank you.

I do not really have much jewllery to begin with.
That yellow sheen is probably the chemical reaction with the silver that is left behind.
What you should do is to give it another polish with some autosol and the sheen should be removed.
Best if you invest in one of those sonic machines where your jewellery is clean by vibrating them at super high speeds to shake off the dirt. Then you can start charging your friends to clean their silverware for them! *Muahhahahahahahaha~~~!*

if you want to clean your silver accessories then i have a best way for you to clean your accessories without paying for it , just take a bowl and put some water in it and put it on fire now add salt in it , add more salt , make the water salty , don't be a miser in adding salt then put your silver accessories in that boiling water and left them for at least 15 minutes then put it off from fire and keep the sliver accessories in the boiling water or you may say salty boiling water for half an hour , now all the dust from your silver accessories is separated , now take a old tooth brush and rub your silver accessories. they are clean and are now shining.

I will rather be cleaning them on my own, rather than paying.. haha =D After all, it's the same thing they are using, and we are gonna pay for their efforts?? lol =D
There are many ways to clean silver accessories, and for the yellow sheen, u can wipe them off, using a cloth, together with some of your lipstick.. hehe ^_^
Just a gentle rub in those silver accessories, the shine and glow will be back in no time ^_^
