It is said that eating rice at night is not good for health. I do not know how far it is true. But many people avoid eating rice at nights. Instead they eat dosais, chappatis or uppuma at night. The last one which I mentioned is a south indian delight. Uppuma is made of a gram powder or dhal.

I am a Chinese, so the rice is our main food. We have the rice almost everyday. So it is very common that we will have rice at night as dinner. I have never heard that it is not healthy to eat rice at night. As we have this habit for quite a long time and nobody finds out something wrong:) I love China

I eat rice at night and some say it's bad because you're going to sleep at night and eating heavy meal before sleep is bad, maybe that is why. But before, I don't eat rice anymore when it's dinner.

Hi, cudamani. If I eat rice, it will be in the evenings before 8 p.m. I can't seem to eat anything that is heavy on my stomach before I go to bed at night. I would like to try, Uppuma. I have never really eaten many Indians food before. I am sure that it taste really good.

We often eat rice every meal here in the Philippines, whether it's for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Eating rice at night is okay as long as you'll eat minimal amount of it and if you'll eat it at least 2 hours before going to bed. It will really take few hours for rice to be digested but it doesn't mean it is already unhealthy to eat rice at night.

Eating rice at night is not good for health.because, they take more time to digest and usually we take rice with some curry or dhal.It is added fat.the calories we gain from rice and sidedish is stored as fat.so,we should take fruits or milk at night to cleanse our body when we sleep and to calmful sleep.dosai is made of rice and uraddhal.uraddhal is good for health,so,eating dosai at night is better.but, dieting people and people who wants to loss weight should eat at 7pm if you go to bed at 9 or 10pm.At this two hours gap,try to go for slow walk or active at your house work instead of sitting infront of tv.uppuma is made by semolina. It is made from wheat. To prepare uppuma we use less oil.so,it wont add any additional fat,if you eat this at night.

I don't know if it is not healthy to eat rice at night but here in my country rice is a must in every meal. Without rice the meal that we are having feels not right...I myself eat rice everyday but I cut the amount that I am taking because I gain very easily. I think no matter what type of food they are taking, it is how they having it that matter. If they know how to control and eat properly, I don't think there will be any health problem.
