We usually spend the holiday break at home but this year we have a trip to Disney World planned for the day after Christmas. I'm not sure how this will all work out but I'm starting to pack everyone's suitcases this week to avoid the last minute chaos that inevitably happens this time of year. Have you ever planned a vacation around Christmas week and where did you go? How did your family enjoy it? I'm hoping the kids will not feel rushed out of the house after opening presents the day before and not being able to play so much at home in the days to follow. I know they'll be excited about going to this magical place but it's a big change in our normal routine. What are your thoughts on this subject?

We had a great time in Orlando, Fl. We spent 4 days in the Disney parks. One day each in Magic Kingdom, Hollywood Studios (formerly called MGM), Animal Kingdom and Epcot. Then one day at Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure (2parks in one day was quite busy but lots of fun) We also attended a Blue Man Group show which was the most fun I've had at a concert in decades! These guys are awesome entertainers! The show is a combination of music, mostly drumming and random comedy skits with lots of audience participation. At the end of the show we found ourselves covered in what looked like toilet paper! Great experience for the entire family....my 7 year old didn't know what to think of it but the smile on his face was priceless! More fun than a frat party!! If you ever have the chance to see this show -- DO IT!!

I usually don't have plans as the plans are immediately formed but usually the holidays goes on in home with good food but no outing at all.here the life is boring enough not only for me but all the people here as they also never go for holidays anywhere except for staying at home.

Well, I am having my long vacation now, and I don't really have any vacation plans. I just plan to take leave, stay at home and take care of my baby son. I didn't spend enough time with him, I really want to spend more time with him. Also, as my husband is still working, so I don't think we'll go anywhere.
Enjoy your Disney World trip!

Last year, I was out of the country. I spent the Holidays at my sister's house in Florida. We were in Disneyworld the day after New Year. So,now that I am back, I want to spend this Christmas and New Year with my children in our house.

The only place I normally go for the holidays is my brother's house. I spend Christmas there because my mom doesn't celebrate it, so I travel to the next town to celebrate Christmas. When I'm in college I might travel to the twin cities with my room mate though. We want to go, even though it's only a few hours away, about a week before Christmas, and get back the day before. That way we can still spend the holidays with our families, but still get the experience of traveling. =] That'll be next year, since I'm waiting for her to graduate high school.

We usually stay at home on vacation.Because it is a good time to release myself, the work pressure for me is heavy in working days.I like stay at home and have a good rest.
Meanwhile,it is to crowd to go out on this holidays when everyone has their vacation. There are traffic jam, always need to wait.
In fact i like traveling,i will go out when i have a personal vacation.

I don't have a vacation plan for the holidays right now. This depends very much on the weather conditions. It has been very cold the last days, heavy snow, freezing temperatures, blizzards. The roads are so slippery, very dangerous to drive or even to walk along. If the weather does not favor, just have to stay home and watch TV and play games online !

seems have holiday are not so popular on this country still and if we have enough time and enough money to go i'd like to have the new year's vacation to visite some places which i've interestedin for a long time already.but also on the vacation days everywhere are crowded and maybe we can't enjoy the peace somehow.

So far we only have lunch and dinners to attend to but nothing involving going to another country. We have so many parties to attend to, I do not think adding on to our long list would help. We already have a difficult time attending all of the parties so my family would much prefer to have the typical parties we attend to every year then maybe have a few days just staying home to rest and all.

I've never gone on on a vacation right after Christmas, actually my first Vacation was a few years ago after I moved out of my grandparent's house. In any case, Now my husband and I aren't yet ready for children but I think even so we'd wait and let them enjoy their gifts first, and maybe plan a trip like that earlier in the year, or later accordingly.
I'd have to factor in their ages and what they're studying in school as well as the rules accustomed with absences...

We always go away for the holidays. Before our family passed away, we traveled to visit them. Now that they are gone, we usually go away for Thanksgiving and for Christmas. DH has always talked about spending Christmas in the mountains so that he could have snow for Christmas (We live in Southern California so we never see snow) but every time I suggest going there, he says, "Maybe next year." Inevitably we go to the beach. For the last few years, we've rented a house in Laguna Beach for Christmas and New Years week. The house is open for friends to visit as their schedules permit. I love cooking breakfast on Christmas day on the patio with the ocean as a backdrop. We buy one of those store bought turkey dinners for Christmas dinner so that no one has to cook. Have a wonderful time at the happiest place on earth!
