So guys, it's Christmas. Well, we all know that Christmas means the birth of Christ. But do you really believe that Christmas did happened on December 25? I have my doubts. And I guess, I'll believe in my doubts. If we base it in the Bible, Christmas certainly could not fall on a December, why? Because why would the shepherds, (they're one of the few lucky people to get a first glance of Jesus) be out in the night tending their sheep on a winter night? I just wanna know your ideas about this issue really. Feel free to say something.

Considering that Jerusalem is only 35 degrees north of the equator, it is possible that Christmas fell in December. But it is truely hard to say as they used a Roman calendar that was very different than the calendar of today. I would ventrue a guess that December 25th was as close to a date as any other based on the calculations from their calendar to ours. I really do not think that it is extremely important if the date is exact as long as we are celebrating the season for the right meaning. I personally celebrate in the name of Jesus for the entire month of December. I volunteer and serve His people a little more than usual during the month to do my part to pay for the sacrfices He made for me. Merry Christmas.

Jesus doesn't really need you to pay anything for everything He did for you. Just be who you are and keep His standards, hm...do things as a gratitude for all that He did for you...don't think of it as a payment...It will be hard for you one day, if you think of it that way.

I do not think of it as a payment in that sense. I use the term pay as showing respect for what He has done for me. I volunteer at through Christian ministries group that helps serve young childern by providing them with gifts. I find it a blessing to be able to help others and really enjoy doing this in His honor.

Okay. At least that settled. Enjoy serving God. Do everything for His glory. God will bless you more and more each day. God is so awesome, right? When you give something out of your heart, he gives even better things in return. I hope I would always see that.

According to research that I've read, the birth took place late March/ early April.

Oh, really? How is that? Can you explain further why in March or April? What I've heard by a Bible School friend is that His birth fell on late September or early October.

The reason they say it might have been in late March or early April is that the shepherds were out in the fields. In December it would have been too cold for the shepherds and the sheep to have been outside. March would have been warm enough for them to be out.

Actually yes, Christ was born on December. First: In the 4th Book for the Apostles, sec III,part XIII it says "Brethren, observe the festival days; and first of all the birthday which you are to celebrate on the twenty-fifth of the ninth month," that will be roughly on Dec25th on the Gregorian calendar used by the western churches, or January 7th on the Julian calendar used by the Eastern churches which is Kiahk 29th on the Coptic calendar. Second: December in Jerusalem is suitable for the shepherding. It never says in the bible that the shepherds were not cold or anything! Hope this helps!

the calendar that we are using now are not really accurate when it comes to the bible facts. but we can still make it an ocassion that we remember our saviour Jesus Chirst and His Birth. Beside Christmas is more about christ rather than anything else. it's that giving nature that he came into the midst of us as man and took our sins upon himself.

I agree to that. I just want to know your opinion about that issue really. But maybe you will all agree to me that, " There's something about Christmas time that makes you wish it's Christmas everyday!" Right? That's a song from Chris and Conrad entitled Christmas Time.
