Can Obama Do This?

Barack Obama has awarded himself 'a good solid B-plus' grade for his first year as President of the United States, in an interview with Oprah Winfrey that aired on US television last night Now, I've read a lot about members here and US friends of mine about how unhappy they are with their current situation and with so much issues still left unresolved - I am just so surprised with this. Talking of unbecoming, I think we have one here for the record. I do not know about you, but I can sense some temperature rising here. How could he do such a thing and incur more resentments from within and around? Read more: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/worldnews/article-1235664/Barack-Obama-awards-solid-B-grade-year-office.html

Believe it or not I actually had a professor at UCF that let students choose their own grade. Naturally I always chose an A, but he said a few students gave themselves B's. Note, we chose our grade on the first day of class, not the last. Who would plan on a B? Granted, he'd drop your grade like a brick if you broke any of his rules, one of them being to NEVER have a cell phone ring in class. One buddy of mine got a D because he brought a weapon to class. He was a campus police officer and just got off his shift.

He definitely wouldn't give himself a failing grade. He wouldn't say C because that is considered average. B wouldn't be high enough to suit his vanity and A would cause everyone to accuse him of having a big ego. He settled on B+ as being almost perfect in every way, like Mary Poppins. In truth, he would have liked to give himself an A+ because he thinks he's better than perfect.

There's nothing quite like having another self-congratulating politician in the White House.

I didn't need to look at his source because I watched and heard Obama say it himself.

The interview was on national television in the US and the statement reported by many news sources.

I honestly don't understand Obama...and I don't know how we as a country elected him. I don't think anything is much better...and why is he concentrating so hard on the healthcare when there is so much termoil...we need to concentrate on the economy first...Why are we getting more and more in debt as a country? How many trillions of dollars has he allocated in the year since he's been in office that we don't have. Granted I'm only in my 20's but my grandparents and parents both say that my grandkids will be paying for all of the troubles that we've been having and it's only gotten worse this past year.

dreamr802, Like you, I really hope that he should place the same amount if not more efforts on the country's economic well being. I just hope that he will turn around fast enough and walk more than talk. All the best.

Sure he can say this. I can say I wear a size 4 dress. I wouldn't believe either one of use.

Yeah, because giving himself an A woulda just been too vain. One thing this guy has never lacked is self confidence. He still has a lot of fans, but nobody loves Barack Obama more than Barack Obama.

I would have to agree with you on this one!lol It's actually sickening because everytime we see Obama, he's acting like he's still on the campaign trail. Most other presidents had press briefings, but this president has pep rallies everytime he gets in front of a camera. He's constantly promoting himself on television shows of all types. I can understand that he wants to reach out to a broader audience than any other president, but has he not done that already? I just think he loves the sound of his own voice a little too much.

It is a pity that Obama inherited a dying economy but some analyst say that the steps he has taken has prevented the economy from deep recession. It took 8 yrs for the economy to become this bad and it would not improve overnight. give the guy a chance, he is working hard.

Are you guys aware about the American Recovery Act 0f 2009? That is the program from the Obama government concerning the upliftment of the economy. It is a full package about job saving and creation, tax cut, infrastructure, healthcare and many more. Check it out to understand the wisdom behind the law, with it I hope it will clear up things.

Can Obama grade himself when asked how he thinks he's doing? Sure! We can disagree with him though!

I will not comment on Obama because he is not my president. What I would like to comment on is the issue of people expecting problems that were developed over several years to be rectified in just one. Did it ever occur to the people of america that maybe it's their lifestyle that put the country in its current situation? From what I have seen a significant part of the culture is based on credit, which is spending money you do just do not have, it was bound to have negative effects in the long run. Another question is, can anyone guarantee that a candidate other than your current president would've done a better job?
