Hey mylotters! This is a question on books. Books these days are being read less, especially with more information being implanted on the internet, and access to the same information might be free.
I don't read books because I simply find them a waste of time and paper--money. The only books which I sometimes look at are cooking books, which I rent and use to make cookies or cakes. I normally get all the information from the internet, so the need for books is really minimal, especially since most information on the internet is free. I also know that people tend to read less as they grow older, not sure why but they do.
I also find books a waste of time because once they are read, they are stored and never read again, which to me, is a waste of money and paper.
So my question for you is: Do you read books? and How often?

Hi!!
M completely hooked on to books and I love reading all sorts of fantasy novels and magazines.I have had this habit since my school years and have been with me all through.Whenever I have free time or m travelling, its mostly the books that are my companions :).I didn't like your line that books are a waste of time, paper and money although many would consider that since nowadays we get versions on internet in PDF format but I really don't approve of it.I would better own a copy for myself and read it as per my leisure. The books that I have read till now are Harry Potter series by J.K.Rowling,The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S.Lewis,The Lord Of The Rings,The Twilight Saga,Bridge to Terabithia,Enid Blyton's Famous Five series and some more :).Everyone in my family has this hobby of collecting and reading wide variety of books especially my Dad and I think its passed on to me as hereditary :).Enjoy reading, take care!!

I agree with you! I love to read, and never consider it a waste of time! I read every day, a minimum of 1/2 an hour to an hour. I bring a book with me to read when I am waiting in line or for an appointment. I enjoy reading fiction and nonfiction, novels, and magazines. I learn something every day from what I read - it keeps my mind active and my conversations interesting. I collect books from my favorite authors, and often reread them, so I can enjoy them a second time!

First off, I think that books are not a waste of money. You can also get books for free. It's called a library. If you don't like reading books in a traditional format, try an audiobook and make sure you get an unabridged version because abridged stories suck. Everything is not available online. A lot of stuff is, but not everything. If you get an audiobook you can even multi-task while you're listening to it, which is a favorite activity of mine. I listen to the book write poetry or MyLot or read email. This way you're learning a new tale while you're doing something more practical and mundane. I read books almost everyday, more so by far, since I stopped having cable. My goal in 2010 is to read one hundred books.

When I wrote this response, I didn't realize you were not from America. Perhaps they don't have free libraries in your country as we are privileged to enjoy here. If this is the case, I'm sorry and I'm seriously considering reporting the news of your country to the national novel writing month organization. Every year, they build a free library somewhere. If Malta has no library, you should apply as a group.

Hello! I like reading books but I haven't got much time for that. Sometimes I really feel like reading then I put all my things on a side and read a good book :) I like reading in the evenings in bed ;) but then a book has to be really interesting for me not to fall asleep :) :) I like autobiographies because they tell a lot about some particular famous person and you can get to know a lot of interesting about him/her. I like reading a book better than reading in internet because in internet my eyes get faster tiered...Have a great day!!!

Hi, Borg. :-) I guess, you can consider me as a person that is still living in a jurassic era.LOL
I read books still despite of the latest technology. In fact, I love reading a book. It is still convenient for me to read a book than just reading it from my computer. I can take the book with me anywhere and I can get information even if I'm lying on my back of which i can't do with my computer.
I disagree with you that older people tend to read books lesser than they were younger. It depends upon the person, I believe. All the members in my family who can read, both young and old alike, loves to read books or anything in prints.I have my collections of hardbound covered Nancy Drew Collections which I'm still reading and is planning to give it a gift to the next gen in the family.
MY grandma has her collections of pocketbooks and she reads them over and over again, marking the book when she last read it. Her reason is it is a good way to avoid alzheimer's and other mental health diseases. She's right though, even in her old age, she still has a sharp memory and continues to learn. Using the internet for merely reading to enjoy and relax is not so comfortable. The computer in our house functions mainly as a device to communicate and do research work and office documents.:-)

I think not all people are dependent on computers, there are lots of people who are still reading books. And may i ask? "i also know that people tend to read less as they grow older?" are you sure about this? Do you have a proof and even a survey that says when people grown older, they tend to read less? I know a lot of people who love reading books especially the old ones, as they find the book very informative and much more reliable. You are right about the information on the internet, but how sure are you that all of those information can be trusted or very reliable? Most of the people i know even tend to tell me to read books. I read books and at the same time read information on the internet. Book + Internet = Best knowledge. That is all i can share, have a great day.

Exactly, before browsing on internet not yet booming, reading books become posibbly daily actifities, even when waking up in the morning, we suddenly remember the books that we have just read before we went to sleep.....
But now, with the existance of internet where everyone, no matter their ages, no matter their profesion, no matter their business, etc... they forget the usage of books, they now love to browsing via internet which all information, all data, all story, all files, all literature, etc they can get them from browsing on internet...
What do you think, guys ? Is it same with your opinion ?

I read loads of books: I think they are fabulous.
Maybe three or four, in a good week?
Some on the train, some at work, some at home, some just before bed... I think literature is a wonderful art form - certainly more so than the frankly mediocre quality of television these dats.
If you're worried about the cost, why not buy second-hand books? Buying online, you can pick up titles for as little as £0.01 - though you have to pay postage! If you go to a second-hand store, you can get an armful of books for a quid.
Or you could go to a library and read for free.

yeah i do read books , i read my school books and novels and i like reading novels , i think books is a great paper waste but we cn't help man , there are many people who read books or love reading books but prefer not to buy and love to share book and this result in the waste of paper so i always prefer to buy old books then new books so that people stop buying new books and help publishers to not to print new editions and it will help environment to be safe.

Hello again,borg246!
At first, second class i didn`t read books, but i started because they are helping you in school..Giving you some less knowledge..And if you read books, the lessons you take will be easier..I probally read mitology books..Because it has so much fantasy, and you couldn`t even imagine, that world of beaty, the discipline, the gods..Everything gives you a big part of your fantasion..But i also read some scientific books..Like for the creations..I even read one from soon..Its very interesting, and now i learned many things for zeppelins, doors, telephones, music players and even for the computers, how they keep information with magnitefic thingies..
Happy day - joro1best

i am totally disagree with this view, because in current days we have too much option to collect information, but books have its own traditional aspect.by the internet or somewhere you might collect the information but books its give the real fillings about the information which you want to collect or want to understand.

I love to read books. I always have and always will. Nothing is more soothing to the soul than unwinding with a good book. I don't see books as a waste of time. Somuch knowledge and understanding is gained by them. I even enjoy rereading a favorite book. It is like greeting an old friend.

Yes i do read books! Its the bible that i read most! But apart from that i also read my programming books and some of the novels that I find interesting!
Some people like to bury them into the books ! They wont answer when they're reading! I'm not that sort of a guy!
